This is a great game.
it truly feels like one of the good, old games we used to get back in the day, it has this nostalgic feeling and game-play that I just love.
I strongly recommend anyone to try this game out and just play it, you won't be disappointed.

Game-play wise it's an action game combined with a tower defense game.
You walk around the map as the main guy, slicing and dicing Yokai while trying to protect the priestess.
You have Villagers who you can command and give different roles to like archer, spear-man, etc.
During the day you build defenses and collect resources and at night you fight together with the villagers.

This will sound stupid but this game just feels like a game.
No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ extras, no busywork, no weird modern influences, it just feels like how a game should feel like.
Think SNES to PS2 era.

If you love collect-a-thon's like Banjo-Kazooie you will love this game.

The first thought you'll have when seeing this game is probably something like "huh, this looks like pikmin" but honestly, the tinykin are more like abilities than units. You won't get the same experience you would get from a pikmin game, this is really more of a classic collect-a-thon than anything else and it's a really good one at that.
Think of your tinykin as standard abilities you have and the more tinykins you have the stronger the ability is.

The level design is great and it's really fun to explore everything.

The sound design is pretty good.
You won't start randomly humming the level themes while doing something else but it's good enough to entertain while playing the game.

The artstyle and the graphics are really good.
The game is mostly 3D but all npc's and the main character are 2D sprites, I personally have no problems with the sprites but I could see other people not liking it.
One design though I really did not like was the main character. Everyone and everything looks good in this game EXCEPT for the main guy. He looks like a total loser. I have no idea why he looks that way and why the developers decided on that design but holy moly does it look bad. If I would mod one thing in this game it would be the mc.

Last point is the story or lore or whatever you want to call it.
There's a bit of story at the beginning, basically nothing while playing the game and a lore dump at the end. Now, the story isn't bad or something like that it's just....not what I would have expected.
Honestly I started laughing pretty hard when the whole plot was explained, I can't even describe it and I really don't want to spoil it. Let's just say it's not what you would expect from this kind of a game, hilarious.

tl;dr 9/10 collect-a-thon, a bit short, great race challenges included

This is an incredible game!

I had this game waiting in my library for months, bought it on a whim because it's from Klei but never started it because I wasn't in the mood.
Then a few weeks earlier I was looking through my steam library in search of something to play, saw it, nearly skipped it but in the end still decided to give it a shot and I'm hooked since.

I think the reason this game is so good is because it has:
-a rich detailed world with lots of lore that you can get into if you want to
-three very interesting campaigns, each having a different main character with a different playstyle
-lots of random encounters that make each playthrough feel different even if you play the same campaign back to back
-two different battle systems, one for negotiations and one for battles

The only thing that bothered me is that every campaign is only one chapter long.
I really hope we get some DLC which will add some more chapters to each campaign.

This is probably what parents feel like when going to work while their children are at home.
You just leave for a couple of hours to get work done and get groceries or whatever and you return home to find things being broken, everyone nearly starving, trash and and worse being everywhere and whatnot.

I can't go to a light rouge-like run outside my improvised campsite without the cultists nearly dying.
It's funny and stressful at the same time, kinda fun to be honest

The immersion, right? These games pull you in unlike any other!

What's the worst thing about Piranha Bytes games?
Without a doubt the combat system. No matter which of their games you're playing the combat is just terrible.

So why is nearly every quest in this game about killing stuff?!
Close to the end you get flooded with quests like these:

Kill Purple Space Dinos 0/20
Kill Purple Space Dogs 0/40
Kill Purple Space Abominations 0/10

Mates, am I playing a bad f2p mmo or am I playing a game from the guys that somehow managed to produce Gothic 1 and 2?! What is happening here and it's not only the combat, the dialogue and the overall plot is terrible too and these two points should have been excellent in a Piranha Bytes game.

It didn't have to be a 10/10 but that doesn't mean you have to produce quality like Risen 2 Part 2 Electric Boogaloo and slap me in the face with it.

I love futuristic racing games like F-Zero and Wipeout, games like these are the pinnacle of the racing genre (in my humble opinion :^)

Thing is though that these games are pretty rare, there were a few during the 90s and early 2000s but nowadays it is really difficult to find any new entries into the "Futuristic Racing" Genre.

Luckily we got some top tier entries "recently" with the first Redout and BallisticNG and now we can add Redout 2 to the list.

If you ever played any of the games I mentioned and you like them then you have to get this game! I promise that you will have fun with it.
I'm personally a big fan of the pitch controls you can perform with the right stick and the lack of weapons.
I know lots of people love weapons in these kinds of games but I always thought that the "pure" racing events were way more fun. I want to win because I'm the better racer not because I got a blue shell or something like that.

Racing with MAX speed, your machine with 1% health left and nearly destroyed by overheating while you are perfectly in the ZONE and dodging everything like a true ZEN-Master, what more could you want from a game?

I love the rolling mechanic in this game.
You wait for the enemy to start a big move, roll through them to get behind them and start an immediate counter attack.
Truly KOF is the Dark Souls of fighting games :^)

All jokes aside I think this game is great and I hope this will be the big breakthrough SNK and KOF deserve.

Really good game, just as fun as it was back then.
The only thing I would like to have added is a classic mode where you can play with the old graphics and soundtrack.
Jardinains 1 still has the best style and music and it would be cool if we could have that here too.

I love it! Only pure skill (and sadly having a DLC car) will decide who's gonna win the race. No more will some worse driver than you outmatch you because he got a blue shell or something like that through sheer luck.
