Alright I never really review games but I feel compelled to because this game is SO over hated right now. This is a GOOD game. This game feels GREAT to play. I've got some time in Tarkov and Hunt Showdown and a couple hundred hours in ARC Raiders, and Marathon is all I've been able to think about for a week.

First of all, this game's vibes are insane. The visual style is harsh at first but it completely nails the feel of a hyper advanced, hyper corporitized extrasolar failed human colony. The lore complimenting it is top notch too, you can tell the game started with the world building instead of shoehorning it in at the end. The environments, cutscenes, codex, and gameplay all serve the lore and story, and that feels good to play in.

The gunplay is TIGHT. No surprise since it's Bungie but yeah, they still got it. TTK is low compared to a casual extraction shooter but high compared to Tarkov, I find that they've found a sweet spot where you are heavily punished for a lack of positioning or awareness but aren't without the tools to outplay your openent and come out ahead if you're skilled enough. The combat is harsh but it feels very fair.

Honestly it feels like if we didn't live in this world where hating is a sport and praying on the downfall of new releases is a dopamine treadmill, this game would be widely acclaimed. It feels really well made, has deep systems and excellent gunplay, and is steeped in quality lore. I just hope they can keep it running for long enough for people to fully appreciate what they've made here.

This is the best game to play with your friends in 2024. It's also fun solo and they made the game really well regardless but the situations you can get yourself into are best enjoyed with the homies. I got sniped by a BUILDING(??), ragdolled like 100 meters and broke everything in my body. 10/10. No notes.

PRAISE THE EMPEROR

This game is shockingly good. Not because my expectations for Supergiant are low either, they've never missed in my opinion, it's just that incredible. Just now I started typing out a list of all the individual things that make it great and I stopped after like 10 because I could probably go on forever, there is not a thing about this game I don't like. Absolute MUST if you're a roguelike fan and extremely recommended for just anyone that likes video games full stop.

I've gotten WAY more time out of this game than I ever expected to and I suck at it, hard. I love roguelike games and this one adds an amazing layer with the pixel-level destruction. Half the time I just decide to abandon trying to have a "good run" just to blow some ♥♥♥♥ up, 10/10

If you like Bungie's feel for gunplay you'll probably like D2. It's free, just try it ;)

Some of the most random fun stories come from this game, but yu have to make them yourself. Fun to try to just build solo and avoid the roving hordes

THe atmosphere in this game is unreal and it's come a long way from Early Access. If you like alternate history games this is a great one

Hands down the greatest game ever developed, not much else to say.
