This is one damn grand experience. I don't think I'm even nearly close to the end, but I've gone through enough to know it's worth recommending already.

Your path to victory in this game allows for such a variety of strategy and consistently requires enough focus that every single battle—hell, maybe even every turn—expresses itself as a unique set piece personalized to your playthrough. The combat stands to be the most striking element of this game to me for how continuously meticulous and captivating it is, while also seemingly forever presenting you with new concepts. Unlocking new pages always serves as a way to improve your current build, or sometimes even an opportunity to explore an entirely different one. I've spent a very long time in the lobby, taking my time to read abilities/passives so I can craft new decks, and it has yet to ever become tiring. That's quite alien to me for these types of games; I usually despise interacting with mechanical depth to this degree for how much it breaks my immersion of "just wanting to play the game". I'm definitely going to miss this when I'm done with it.

Library of Ruina is quite a rarity, so please give it a shot if you hold even the slightest bit of interest towards it. Though I mainly expressed my fascination towards the gameplay in this review, there is so much beyond that to appreciate in this game (story, music, visuals, etc). I hope you will come to enjoy it as much as I do.

A fantastic roguelike game with clear inspiration from FFXIV that has a significant amount of unique and fun boss mechanics across solo and multiplayer to keep it fresh and enjoyable regardless of how you choose to play. I prefer multiplayer though, as the chaos of something like having to dodge attacks while one of your friends is hunting you down with a spread marker cannot be beaten. Fighting over the loot that the chests drop (or the alternative of kindly begging your friends not to roll for an item that you really want) is always silly too.

Also, very neat soundtrack too. I enjoy Emerald Lakeside's battle theme in particular a ton!

This is like if you turned the word "awesome" into a game.

Aside from how awful keyboard controls can be at times (I couldn't find a controller), I really enjoyed this. The game starts off strong and it just keeps getting more and more crazy from there. Also, the cinematics are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool, especially during the boss fights. AND THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Play this game.

One of the best games I've ever played. Even though I have practically no hours on it compared to many of my other favorites, it still slaps so damn hard. Every level in this game is just SO AWESOME without fail.

Don't worry too much if you think you're bad at FPS games and this won't be for you, because this game is actually pretty easy to get into. At most, you'll have to deal with some trial and error, but it never feels frustrating. While this game DOES have a very high skill ceiling, you don't need to worry about performing any crazy tech to beat even the hardest levels (at least with the ones out right now). You could be doing the most basic of strategies and it'll still make you feel like you're a god. I don't know how that even works but it just does.

I fully recommend this to literally anyone. It's one of the most well-designed games I've played in recent time and it's incredible how it just keeps getting better and better with each update. Also, the music bangs so hard.

I'd advise you don't play this if you are mainly interested in something that has well-designed gameplay. It's definitely not the best here—some portions of the game are pushing towards being torturous in how unfair and unenjoyable they are, meanwhile the rest of it is "alright" at best.

In spite of that, I'd say it is still worth a shot to check out what I'd consider the main attraction of Lobotomy Corporation: its story. If you're a fan of grimdark settings, I recommend it a million times. Like, it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good, trust me. Otherwise, there's likely nothing for you to enjoy here. This is a rather long game after all; none of the 90 hours I have were spent idle. You'll know if the gameplay is for you or not rather quickly, so don't linger for too long if you aren't having fun.

An improved version of the original game that's worth its price.

However, you shouldn't expect this to be better than Risk of Rain 2 if you're coming in from that. This is very much a different game and chances are you may not enjoy it as much. Alongside that, there are some issues such as the chests spawning like 30 miles apart, causing you to feel like you're playing a walking simulator at times with nothing happening (mainly early-game but it's always boring). Though, I've heard that turning off the new map variants fixes this since apparently they are so damn big compared to the original ones for some reason. Another thing I'm not really a fan of is having to kite enemies for 20,000 years in Monsoon if I didn't happen to get good items (unless you use Chef baybeeee best character in the game). The fact of this game being 2D kinda kills the enjoyability of that since it can feel pretty BS at times. I don't really remember that being a problem in the original game so that's why I bring it up here. Despite my complaints, I STILL think this game is an improvement. The new damage dealt/taken stuff, for example, actually mitigates every aforementioned issue rather well.

When it comes to the side stuff, I thought the Providence Trials were meh. A few are good, most aren't anything impressive, and some of them are like the worst thing ever designed in the history of video games. I have no clue why they decided to get Satan on the design team for some of these, like the one where you need to shoot 10 targets as Huntress while climbing ropes and then if you want to crown it you need to get 40 more. Like why? Who the hell decided that? Or alternatively the one where you have to knock enemies off of the map with HAN-D. Why do you have like -8 HP in that one? AND they have the boss that surrounds you with walls. Once he spawns, you are pretty much flipping a coin to decide whether or not you win since it gets way too chaotic for you to manage anything. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

I've gotten my money's worth from this game and don't really feel like playing it that much anymore when Risk of Rain 2 exists, but I'm sure that there will be a lot of people that'll be able to have fun with this for longer than I did. Even if you don't, you'll still get a good bit of hours in since the progression is fun to go through. Once that's up though, you'll probably just go back to playing Risk of Rain 2, which is fine. At the end of the day, I shouldn't reaaalllly complain about this game since they didn't even have to add everything that they did. All of the new items, enemies, bosses, characters, sprites, music, and more are fantastic; we should definitely be grateful this remake even exists. I just wish it came out a little better gameplay-wise.

Originally, I wasn't much of a fan of this game during my first few hours of playing it; there's a few issues it has that made it hard to enjoy at times, but I decided to keep playing in spite of that (since the gameplay is still very fun regardless) and eventually happened upon Titan. That moon is the best thing this game has for replayability. It can spawn any of the monsters, generates either a normal facility or mansion, and has a perfectly designed exterior that isn't too small or too large. Once me and my friends went to it, we never tried to go anywhere else ever again if we had enough money to afford it.

In fact, we downloaded mods later on just to make it free to travel to (alongside various QoL stuff for the game) and honestly it's so fun now. I fully recommend playing this game with mods once you've gone through vanilla for a few hours. It improves the experience by SO much. I could probably sink at least 100 more hours into this game now thanks to them.

With that in mind, I do want to admit that the vanilla game is still great by itself, even if I find it rather flawed at times. Basically, you should buy this game NOW! and play it with some friends.

With the occasional lewdness and that damn water area (maybe I just went to it too early) aside, Rabi-Ribi is pretty fun and worth the price. If you're a fan of metroidvanias, I highly recommend you check this one out.

I'm not even done with it yet, but the fact that I played for 11 hours straight during my first session should speak volumes about how enjoyable this game is. The story is alright and the gameplay is pretty smooth, but where it really excels is with the boss fights. They're so fun and it seems there's so many of them; I never felt like I went without fighting one for too long.

Overall, this is a good game. If you can get past the fact that half of the girls in this game barely wear any clothes, then you'll likely have a great time with this.

When it comes to the amount of time I've spent on incremental games, #2 ranks somewhere around 110 hours.
You can probably guess what #1 is.

I'm shocked I haven't played this until now despite knowing about it for years.

This is one of the best platformers I've ever played, if not THE best. I literally stayed up all night just so I could finish this game in one sitting, that's how much I liked it. When it comes to criticism, I could talk about the story (probably the weakest part) but honestly I had so much fun with this game that I don't even care. After all, the gameplay is where it's at (and the music).

The amount of unique mechanics per level make it so that it's pretty much impossible to get bored/annoyed, even if you get stuck for a while at one screen. Plus, they're all actually fun. I guess my least favorite was the wind when it slowed you down, but even then it wasn't frustrating. That's just one mechanic, too. There's still everything else to enjoy, like the boss fight against "Part of You". That was my favorite part because it's really interesting to see something like it be put into a platformer and work so damn well.

Overall, this game is a "must play" in my opinion. The only type of person that might not enjoy this game is someone who isn't into platformers. Even then, it's likely they will still have a ton of fun anyway. That's just how good it is.
