Never really played God Of War in the past, but this deserved the game of the year award in 2018.
Great story, visuals and gameplay - 10/10

Enjoying it so far, GOTY has to be between this and DOOM Eternal for sure!

DOOM Eternal is quite literally the best single player FPS to date (coming from a long time Halo fan). It's much faster paced than 2016, and much more challenging (but for the better).

+ The game is best played on nightmare, and many of the new additions spice up the combat enough to make the game highly re-playable.

+ There's no micro-transaction BS, you're getting a complete game.

+ The game will kick your a** at first, but provided you persevere and master the combat loop, the game becomes much more manageable. There is a high skill ceiling which is often lacking in other shooter campaigns!

+ Level design is great, and there's plenty of hidden secrets to find.

+ Plenty of extra side missions to do, namely the secret encounters and slayer gates. The slayer gates will make your heart pound like crazy!

+ All the weapons are better than ever, and they all have a purpose (which was a key issue in 2016, as once you picked up the bigger guns, there wasn't much incentive to use the starting weapons again.

+ The soundtrack is f***ing amazing! It's a shame Mick Gordon wont be returning as he has composed some of the best tracks for both DOOM 2016 and Eternal. I can't imagine how the next game will cope without Mick as the composer.

+ Battlemode is fun and very intense, although it's not for everyone.

Most of the negativity comes from people who don't want an engaging combat system and are content with just a generic mindless system (as is the case with the COD stories). The complaints about the marauder and some other demons being too hard are baffling, as the game literally tells you how to defeat them!

The reduced ammo count and the enemy weak-points system forces the player to better manage their resources and learn to weapon/ mod switch on the fly. Quick decision making/ reflexes on the higher difficulties is important. Some hate the changes, and prefer to just spam the super shotgun throughout the entire game (like in 2016), however these changes make the game much more engaging, which sets the game apart from others in the genre. Instead of learning to play, some just jump to the typical (this doesn't feel like a DOOM game) train, when in fact they are simply bad and want to blame the game instead of accepting they just need to get better!

- A few minor bugs here and there, but not experienced anything game breaking.

- Blood punch can be inconsistent, which can get you killed quickly as some of the tankier demons punish you in mere milliseconds!

All in all, a must play for serious FPS fans! Cannot wait for DLC and the new master levels...

EDIT:
Both TAG P1+2 are amazing, and the master level for super gore nest is great (although it was extremely challenging on Nightmare!)

An amazing game. Everything about the game is perfect, including the story, atmosphere, puzzles and enemy encounters (which can seriously catch you off guard). This game doesn't just rely on cheap jump scares that a lot of other games in the same genre do. Best to play alone with headphones at night!

The game is boring and linear , and not scary at all in comparison to the dark descent (which is far better in my opinion). What's more, this game is terribly optimized and no it is not just my pc. Even those playing it on futuristic alienware supreme battlestations are complaining that the game randomly keeps dropping to 40fps and the screen tearing is just unbearable, regardless of vsync being on/off. All in all, a disappointing game!
