Review as of waking up 05/06/24: We did it. We successfully bullied a multi-billion dollar corporation. Major Order Complete, Helldivers. Get back in there.

Review as of 05/05/24: Sony ruins a good thing once again.

I love this game. I truly do love this game.

Don't play it.

A very solid Metroidvania. Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of abilities and the music was just superb.
There are several enemies that were just straight up annoying to deal with but I think all of the bosses were very well done. They were a touch easy in hindsight though a couple were hard difficulty spikes.
Having 100%d the base game (minus maxing every single spirit), I can say that I will look forward to giving this another playthrough in the future.
Very solid 8.5/10.

One of the best VR experiences you can possibly have (on the Vale Index).

Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers is one of the best RPG stories released in a decade. And it's in an MMO. I love the hell out of this game but will warn anyone who wants to give it a go that the beginning can be very slow and stale. But level 50+ is just smooth sailing.

They're going to be redoing the 1-50 experience around Spring or Summer 2020, though. So there's that.

The game that put Platinum Games on everyone's radar has finally made its way to PC. It's clean and plays like a dream. Beat the hell out of Angels and Demons and get graded harshly because you missed a fight ayyyyyy.

Outrageously fun.

Used to be a really fun ARPG game with well designed Marvel characters. Really poor design decisions, elimination of various playstyles, and seeming abandonment for new PS4 version of the game leaves super poor tates in my mouth.

I don't regret my time spent on this game but I simply cannot recommend it in the current stated.

Literally hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay for 60 dollars, loads of free DLC planned/already released, and 26 or more endings.

Don't be silly.

10/10

So Ori and the Blind Forest falls into the Metroidvania style of games in that the world is mostly a single massive map that you run around in and there are various hidden treasures all over the place that are not necessary for your completing the game but are fun to hunt for.

It has incredibly good platforming because they rely on you being able to utilize your skills in a quick and responsive manner. The platforming can be difficult but it is never actually unfair. Combat is rather simplistic but it's charming because you can combine it with the platforming to be able to avoid a lot of damage that you might normally not have been able to so there are various avenues of attack.

Each upgrade and new ability feels meaningful and you actually feel stronger once you obtain them.

Combine all of this with an incredibly beautiful hand-drawn aesthetic, music that grabs you and pulls you deeper into the game, and a story that gave me more feels than I care to admit, it's just one of the best games that I've had the pleasure of playing.
