Once the novelty wears off, it kind of feels like you just... do things. Am I playing a game or engaging in busy work?

This is definitely one of those "Is it worth two bucks? Yes, it is definitely worth two bucks." games.

I don't understand the appeal of this game. Just endless fetch quests. Running back and forth between villages, which are no trifling distance apart.

Quickly feels more like work than a game.

Banished lite + Age of Empires lite = sounds good in theory, but in practice is a game lacking compelling mechanics. Plus the voice acting is rough.

A JRPG MMO that plays like WoW crossed with Diablo?! I can understand why that might draw many people in. But unless you are willing to sacrifice your entire life to this endless, mind-numbing, repetitive grindfest, stay away.

Let's be to the point: you purchase this game to play with your significant other. And while it's not overly challenging for even moderately experienced gamers, you will have fun with him or her. The story is good enough to keep you going. The battle mechanics require cooperation and coordination, but the open-world coop mechanics could be better. We found that were best off if we just let one person (generally the least-patient) 'drive'.

STAY AWAY

This game was great. Intriguing, deeply tactical gameplay. But the devs have absolutely ruined this former hidden gem. To say they don't listen to their community would be an understatement; they have made it clear they actively despise and ignore us. Patch after patch, they introduce unfun, unabalanced mechanics that suck the enjoyment out of the game. The community has made it clear they don't want these new features, but Wargaming insists that we will eat their ♥♥♥♥ and like it, too.

I have never participated in an online community where the developers are so utterly deaf to and out-of-touch from their own playerbase. I am increasingly convinced that they don't even play their own game, nothing else could explain the decisions they've made.

Also, I'm pretty sure a bunch of the positive review for this game are nothing but bots.

Feels unfinished. Not a lot of content or challenge. I mean, it is in Early access, after all, so that may improve. But while there are a few neat gimmicks, there are also some frustrating mechanics. Ultimately, there just doesn't seem to be much in the way of compelling reason to play this particular medieval city-builder in the genre's current renaissance.

You know that meme, that imperial officer from Rogue One who says "We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close." That's this game.

This game gets so close to being great, but it just can't drag itself across the finish line. Fantastic art and music, setting and story, but it's let down by slow, repetitive gameplay and the damned Unity engine bogging it down and making for painful load times and poor performance, even on SSDs and modern PCs.

That being said, it's still a good game, still far and away the best tactical Battletech game, the best adaptation of the tabletop game we've had to date.

Be sure to check out the Roguetech mod, when you're done with the campaign! Adds a TON of content, and makes the game even more faithful to the tabletop version.
