After Sony retracted their PSN requirement for HD2, I'd like to also retract my negative review and replace it with this:

Helldivers 2 is my game of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ year, not only for what the game itself accomplishes and continues to accomplish, but also as a show of what a truly great community can do, and the force for good that it can be for the gaming industry as a whole. The tense and skillful gameplay, constant new content, engaging DND-like community driven story that is the heart of the live service in the best way possible, in a way that we THE DIVERS feel like we have control of this story's direction and gets us invested in furthering this story and roleplaying in our minds!

All of that alongside the visuals, sound design (best explosions in any videogame period), and weapons—and of course the SHEER THRILL of wiping out the threats to super earth and its people in whatever form that may take, be they BUG, BOT, or CORPO SCUM. AND SWEET LIBERTY, THIS COMMUNITY IS PURE GOLD, BY DEMOCRACY, there has never been a more inclusive, supportive, and passionate community than this one in gaming. And I never play multiplayer games, but here I find myself JOYFULLY helping newer players fight alongside super earth and myself for freedom!
Game of the Year MUST go to this game. It just HAS to. There's no way this game doesn't deserve it over all the other competition!

Somehow we are still struggling with ultra-wide and even REGULAR resolution support in 2022? excuse me?
- No adjusting of windowed borderless resolution.
- gave me only TWO windowed resolution choices, the highest being 1280x720 for some reason only god knows.
- Using an ultra wide monitor and want to set the game to run at 16:9, 1920x1080 for streaming or recording purposes (even with your desktop resolution set as such)?
Too bad. You get 1920x1080 stretched out over your whole 21:9 monitor instead of the 16:9 it should be using.
- The game uses vertical fov instead of horizontal fov so if you DO use an ultra-wide resolution, you have the top and bottoms of the screen cut out because the screen scales vertically instead of horizontally.

I have games decades older than this that have no problems with resolution options and they can even scale up to modern resolutions NATIVELY. But a UE4 game released in 2022? apparently not.
I am nowhere NEAR close to being any kind of graphics snob (indeed the game does actually look very pretty, barring some jarringly stiff character and facial animation), but holy jesus this is unnacceptable. And this is coming from someone who loved the previous 2 FWH Shadow Warrior titles.

TL;DR
If you have an ultra-wide monitor, don't even bother with this game until they patch in proper support. it will only cause you headaches.

Do you want a game where you can both freeze and burn enemies at the same time while flying through the air on a chain attached to your super shotgun? Do you want to feel the rush and unparalleled flow of combat and music flowing through your eyes, ears, brain and veins? Do you want a game that is replayable to the extreme as well as one that has a crazy high skill ceiling?

Then look no further.

Combat and gameplay
Doom Eternal delivers on all of this with extremely smooth movement, both on the ground and in air, as well as a combat flow that makes you use your head making many quick tactical decisions in split seconds about your health, armor, ammo and enemies, while still being relentlessly brutal in its execution, and not to mention extremely satisfying to pull off.
The feeling of dominating a room full of demons while barely taking a scratch is intoxicating, and a high that not many games can boast.

As you float like a butterfly through its many expertly crafted encounters and arenas while stinging like a bee against the many different types of demons thrown up against you, the game really starts to pull you into a flow that will grab you by the balls and WILL NOT LET YOU be bored, coined the FUN ZONE. It will drag you into the fun zone of weapon switching constantly, targeting weak points, glory killing to top up health or blood punch, flaming enemies to snatch up armor, and chainsawing to take a small breather and check your resources while getting ammo, or even a combination of the four.

Music
Mick Gordon again reprises his role as musician and he absolutely blows it out of the park with this one. A heavy metal choir woven into many of the slappiest of slapping beats and pulse pounding riffs that further drive you into the thick of the demons and reinforce just how bad-ass you (the slayer and the player) are, and just how much hell fears you, pushing you to fight harder and faster (a devilish grin on your face the whole time being optional). Not to mention the heavy metal choir chanting for you like a gladitorial arena and your fans are screaming for blood. I dare you to listen to any of the combat tracks and try not to head-bang, its 99% impossible.

Difficulty/Challenge
Is this game hard? Absolutely, but only if you don't listen to what the game is trying to teach you and that yes, it will kill you if you don't learn these things. You have to meet the game halfway and be willing to learn a different style of play, but once it starts clicking with you, it's some of the best combat I have ever seen in an fps like this.

Extra Content
There is an absolutely insane amount of things to find and unlock like cheat disks, little toys to put in your slayer batcave and put on display, lore documents for more insight into the story, and skins for your slayer which you can even use in the single player campaign (still hoping they add the demon skins to show in singleplayer but thats a minor thing). Put simply, it's a completionist's heaven.

Conclusion
With all this in mind I can easily say without a doubt that this game is one of the most refined, focused, and passionately made shooters of all time in that it stands up there with the other greats of FPS history. In fact, why aren't you playing it right now? GO PLAY IT!

While Dusk at first glance may be just another "oldschool shooter" to add to the pile, don't underestimate it. It expects that from you and then pulls the rug out from under your expectations with gorgeous level design, beautifully dark soundtrack, kickass weapons and one of the most pant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monsters you will ever face. Also has memes.

I stand alone in the dimly lit room of what could barely be called a shack, clutching my pathetic attempt of a weapon tightly in my hands and against my chest. I hear footsteps outside that sound oddly like my own, but only for a moment. I stand there, peering out between the wooden boards that make up my feeble attempt at a barricade, out into the darkness beyond. My heart races as I hear the whispers again, both distant and yet somehow so close. My lamp flickers in the darkness and I pray to a god I never believed in that it doesn't go out. I can't let them in. The dark lets them in. My heart stops as I hear the furniture in the next room moving, and the door shakes, the boards nailed upon it barely holding. I turn and someone is sitting upon the bed telling me they want to go home with me. I'm frozen in both confusion and fear, hoping that if I stay silent the apparition will vanish. My eyes dart to the darkened corners of the room, catching glimpses of impossible shapes and figures. My eyes return to the bed... the figure is gone. I whiteknuckle my weapon as I hear loud footsteps just outside my door, in the next room. Something very big was stomping around. I peer through a crack in the wall, and can see nothing but the moving shadows, backing away and huddling into a corner wishing for daylight. As the rays of the morning sun begin to pour through the cracks in the windows, everything falls eerily silent, save for my own strained breathing. Time seems to stand still as I am greeted by a stranger, his mouth formed into a wide grin, inhumanly wide... almost... wolflike...

Early Access Review
Don't believe all the negative reviews, because taken at face value, KNOWING that tripwire has a proven track record of being slow on the updates, and assuming you have other games so you wont feel "betrayed" or feel like the wait time between updates is longer than it actually is. Taking all that into consideration, this game is a bloody good time, and possibly the most polished early access game out there. With very few bugs, and a great focus on gameplay and teamwork, it doesn't comprimise it's difficulty and requires you to learn your enemy in order to defeat them, or suffer at the hands of the larger zeds.

Couldn't get into it. The voice acting sounds very stilted and read-out, and a lot of the "humour" falls flat. The tell tale games charm is not present here, and it shows. The animation quality and graphics style looks like it was done with the same software that people make those minecraft youtube music videos, and the animation feels too robotic and lacking personality. Honestly I feel the animation in those music videos is better in comparison. The story has nothing to get you invested at the start and didnt hook me, like most telltale games have in the past. all in all, a rather sub-par effort from telltale. 5/10
