About me

I spend a lot of time reading and writing. I’m into manga, anime [myanimelist.net], and games that take their themes seriously. I studied literature and write fiction on and off. I’m also learning the piano, slowly.

I’ve been working on a low fantasy novel for a long time. Most of that time has gone into worldbuilding and revising rather than finishing anything. I tend to rewrite early chapters instead of moving forward, so progress is slow, but the project is still important to me.

Philosophy is a big interest of mine, especially existentialism. It influences how I think and what I write about. Lately I’ve been focusing more on short stories, where it’s easier to explore these ideas without committing to something massive.

Video games / Fire Emblem

I don’t play games as much as I used to, but I still enjoy JRPGs and visual novels. Nintendo games like Ace Attorney, Pokémon, Professor Layton, and Dragon Quest are longtime favorites. Recently, I’ve been more interested in quieter, more minimal games.

Fire Emblem has been my favorite series since 2005. I prefer entries with tight design, limited grinding, and gameplay-driven storytelling. FE9/10 and FE5 are among my favorites for their mechanics and structure. I also like Conquest for its gameplay.

The games that focus heavily on avatars, excessive supports, grinding, and “anything goes” freedom don’t really work for me. I think Fire Emblem is strongest when resources matter and decisions have weight. The 3DS era largely missed that mark.

Three Houses was a step in the right direction, mainly because the characters and systems felt more connected again. It’s not my favorite, but it made me more optimistic about the series than I had been in a long time.
