AMD performance is very unoptimized, a 6950XT is much better than a 3080 but somehow in this game it's upside-down. Will re-buy if a patch improves it.

What I wanted - and some things I didn't know I wanted.

First off, let me applaud the developers for finally making a good WASD control scheme in an ARPG. It's virtually friction-free, compared to all the attempts of the past.

That said, it's time to move on to the ways this game differentiates itself from Path of Exile. Most obviously, the speed. Even if my feedback is based on early levels, I can tell this game is going to the slower and more methodical than the first game. It's not a good or a bad thing, it's just different. Since my first character is a mercenary, it's not a big deal, but if I was a melee class I might be pissed. Who knows.

Technically, I am SO happy this is not another UE5-style blur fest with forced upsampling that looks like fried ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Speaking of the looks, this is the first game I've played since Ghost of Tsushima with a proper HDR implementation, this game might even look better. I'm extremely pleased to see GGG took their time to give us this at a high rate of quality.

All of the above are minor praises I have to give to the game so let's move on to the major ones.

The boss design is phenomenal. I bet no matter which class you play, you will struggle with at least 1 of the first 5 bosses. As a mercenary, I've struggled with Draven and I don't think I'll beat him without overgearing. I know the mechanics, and I play it perfectly, but I just can't squeeze out the damage to drop him in time for my flasks to not run out. And that's something I'm prepared for. The other 4 bosses up til this point weren't exactly blatantly "easy" either. And I'm not in a rush to farm them hoping for gear for the next one.

But here's the thing, the slower pace compared to PoE makes every choice you make matter more, for better or worse. It's frustrating sometimes to get blocked by geometry when trying to roll out of harm's way. But similarly, it's exhilarating to lead every aggro'd enemy through a narrow chokepoint filled with your grenades.

I think the speed of PoE 2 will be the main contention point for whether you like it or not. I've always been a speed demon in PoE, but I'm definiitely up to this new task of playing more methodically.

Intolerably fizzy graphics without upscaling, but the implemented upscaler is woefully out of date. And if you try to use Optiscaler to force FSR4 the anti-cheat will shut down the game. Absolute garbage, and unplayable for me the way this tech-debt ridden heap of spaghetti code looks. I will not play until FSR4 is in.

Math but fun. My only complaint is the music that got really irritating really fast. It's like they tracked down the FTL music guy and said "hey can you make us that exact same soundtrack but backwards?" which is not fun when you've played FTL for hundreds of hours.

Utter garbage. Every casual playlist is filled with premades (This shouldn't even be allowed) and every now and then you see a hacker. Completely worthless game as it stands.

The best part about this game is the dungeons and bosses.

The bad part about this game is pretty much everything else. We need to take MMO developer's phones away because this is a mobile game on the wrong platform. It's cheap and gamey. There is no RPG component here, all gear is the same, you make zero choices in building your character. You can't deviate from the mandated stats for each valid build. Most classes have only one valid build, only a couple have one valid build and one "obviously less effective but not so much you can't pick it for aesthetic reasons" mainly Scrapper and Wardancer.

Some classes don't even have any choice of imprints to go for. Paladin especially. If you're a paladin, you're a clone of 750,000 other paladins. You're all the same except for your "gear score". Oh yeah, "gear score", did I mention this game is gamey? They actually put the actual term "game score" into official game vernacular. It's so cringe I can barely keep my face from scrunching up.

You can not try a dungeon before you reach its gear score requirement. The game is so cynically segmented into gear score laddering that it's completely sterile, brainless, cheap and soulless.

The game has mobile game artificial reward structure that punishes playing your main character. To be truly effective in this game you need 6+ alts. Which is especially annoying because more than half of the classes are locked to female and Korean developers have the worst taste in the world in this respect. Every single female class is forced to wear high heels and have that Korean surgery-dominated long legged look only circle-droolers can enjoy.

Spectacularly wasted my time with this game and I'm just happy I spent so little on it.

Kickstarter backer. Launch has passed and the extra copy/ key they promised is still owed.

If they can't fulfill such a simple contractual obligation I wonder what else they'll mess up (servers being down as I type this, having just crashed on a cutscene 20 minutes into the game in offline mode...)
