It is an amazing experience that shows a deep love for dialogues and gameplay. There is a lot of detail and care in the world-building. The music and sounds are awesome, and there are numerous options to build your characters.

The game can be completed in 20-30 hours, depending on the difficulty you choose (I played on Normal). I had been looking forward to this game for a long time, and I did not regret buying it. If you enjoy games that resemble "traditional" RPG-styled top-down games with excellent graphics and a well-written narrative, this game is perfect for you.

I finished the game with three friends of mine after playing for over 120h and it was a very cool, but also with the part where we finally reached Baldurs Gate partly very unpleased. I look forward in few years trying out the game again and hope that all those bugs will be fixed by than. That would be awesome.

Thanks again for the cool storytelling. it is overall a good game.

Love the atmosphere and the war-setting, very disturbing and unique. Very good work, I feel the old vibe of Amnesia and that even with gunpower you feel not ready. Not many games can handle giving a character power but still feel weak and helpless. Awesome, very good work.

You want a Souls-like experience but maybe not the same difficulty?

... Okay, let´s get real first. I know that many people say "OOOOO THAT IS SO SOULSLIKE." You are right. I know that the genre "souls like" is used A LOT and games get this tag just because they are difficult or whatever.

BUT if I had once chance to tell you which game might be true "souls like" and is not from FromSoftware I would say this game for 100%!! I love the visuals, the style, the mechanics, and the fights. A very well-designed game! For everyone who wants to explore their first souls-like game with linear storytelling and helpful mechanics to craft your unique playstyle! You should try this game out! If you never tried a soullike game and you want to get into your first one - just to get a taste - you should consider this game! There is a demo available that allows you to try it for free to get a taste of it!

Are you still reading my comment? Well, thank you!
But seriously, get this game now!!

Amazingly nice game with depth, a very interesting RPG battle mechanic, and some cool visuals. This game can be finished in under 10 hours and is - for a free game - challenging and amusing!

Okay. I try to write this review as fair as possible. And I am not trying to compare it, tho. I try to take the game as itself, without measurement except what it offered to me.

Here is my take: It has a promising beginning. I felt that I will delve into this mystery of "the game itself" and why it got there in the first place. Sure, it felt silly, but I had this feeling that the game will strongly hint at their "serious" moments with me and it was true! While playing "Furquest" and meeting all those characters and facets, I felt there was a somewhat dense lore to be revealed. For example when the very nice introduction of Red and Red´s friends happened to explain their synergy and what Red experienced that was nice! I like the synergy that the game was trying to craft between the protagonist and the core message about friendship and hardships and overcoming those. Also, I enjoyed the NPC dialogs, which had a lot of passion and thought in them. I feel this game because I know many friends who had similar issues and hardships. I could resonate with all those NPCs, sharing their stories and hardships. I talked to all of them that I could see. Also, the random "check my environment" dialogue was funny and thoughtful. I found myself checking the same spot for minutes just to read all those dialogues the game can generate for you.

But then, when I noticed I get to the climax of the story. Everything accelerated all of a sudden and I felt - as the player - not involved anymore. Everything felt so quick, so unexpected. I was thinking that there will be "more" to the lore of this world, more about the game itself. I was not believing it that "Furquest" got already to its conclusion.

I understand that the game might do that to craft a plot open for debate, so players can make up their interpretations and versions. But "Furquest" did not reach out to me and gave me that feeling. I had this feeling of witnessing a potential and strong story, but not delivering it at the end. I feel I missed the crucial elements of the story. I feel not connected with the protagonists. Like at the end WHY do non of my friends speak up to me? Why does nobody try to talk with me, or share their opinion!? Does my opinion no matter to them? Do they not want to speak up? Why are my friends are not taking into consideration? And since at the end, it is revealed that the protagonist remained completely silent on purpose - It felt off... And nobody reacted to that except Red. I mean... Really? :/

I WILL talk with my friend about the game and exchange some opinions and maybe think about replaying it, but I need to say - The game has story potential, sweet visuals, and a nice soundtrack and I can FEEL the passion, I FEEL the dedication and the message, but the way how it presents the story and left me hanging with so many questions... I wish I connected with Red on an empathic level more, but it just... did not work. I felt empty. Empty, but not in "a good way".

For now (08.2023) I would not recommend this game.
I will come back soon and might change my review.
I am very happy for you - Alex - that you could make this game and so many people supported you archiving your dreams. I really do.

After many many hours I can just say that this game is amazing in every single way. It is one of the most amazing permadeath/roughlike experience with such options of freedom, it is amazingly impressive.

I feel very lucky and happy being able to witness this journey of the game getting to 1.0v and finally get all 33 orbs in one run. Thanks to Team Nolla and their amazing game! <3

If you love twisted/dark-ish but awesome storytelling about an old TCG game, you should check this game out! Love the different visual styles the game approved and its creative mechanics!
