I used to play this game a good bit and revisited it because CotW The Angler was announced and this is the closest thing to tide me over. Sadly over the past few years the developers seem to have REALLY gone the route of making this game pay to win. There were always micro-transactions but I came back to find a lot of my methods of catching certain fish sort of locked behind a paywall and an obviously inflated ingame economy (if that makes sense). If you've played almost any mobile game you know what I'm talking about, like you don't HAVE to spend money but it's treading that line of not being enjoyable unless you do.

Few bugs but pretty fun and relaxing game, devs put out DLC every now and then that's cheap and keeps it interesting. Solid Yee Yee/10.

Imagine walking through fields upon fields of salt with tiny cuts on the bottom of your feet and ankles...

You now know what it is like to play this game :)

Early Access Review
* Summary*Standalone.... Where to start? In my experience with people this is either a game you love or hate, and that's probably due to the nature of the game. Dayz is a game where YOU pick how to play, and usually once you know how you play it, it'll determine whether or not you cherish this game or never play it again. This is the ONLY game I can tell you not to purchase without getting your morals straight. As silly as that sounds, it's not a bad idea to find out what kind of person you are before buying this.**

Part 1:: The Premise
The premise of Dayz is to be a zombie survival game where you pick how you want to survive. You can either loot small towns while defending zombies to aquire food, water and medical supplies, Pick berries, fish, and hunt to get by, or gun down everyone you see to get your loot.... Or so the game says. Dayz claims to be a "survival game", but at the moment even with the new hunting and fishing and berries additions, the only thing anyone is going to do is fight other players. You may call my bluff, but once you play for over 300 hours, you'll understand just how evil people really are, and it just makes you want to be evil. I've tried many ways to play this game. I've strolled in the woods with a sporter 22 and barely any supplies living of the land. I've stuck to a single city and the woods around it to get my supplies, and I've even completely avoided almost all civilization in remote places with little to no loot. Each time it's ended with the same thing. Me putting a bullet in someone and someone putting a bullet in me. It's almost as if once that person falls dead and you see that shiny gun they had, you change from a nudist running in the woods to a powerful and deadly force of nature. You;ve now got a gun and plenty of bullets, and what the !@#$ are you going to use them on trying to play as a survivalist? tree trunks? No, you want to place those bullets into the flesh of another human being, and so you break what you thought you were doing and go be a bandit. PVP is everything in dayz, whether you like it or not, and that's why I rate the premise at 5/10.

Part 2:: Gameplay
It seems that gameplay gets worse with every update. Movement is slow and sucks now (you have to double tap w to even jog now) and melee weapons have been made inaccurate for some reason (you swing your axe directly at a zombie and it misses due to breath i think). Even the base factor of the game, pvp, is a one sided activity. If you see someone before they see you and you can play basic shooter games, that person is dead. The gameplay really relies on loot. The only times you'll ever really find fun in this game is in fear. For example (true story), I was once running through berezino trying to get basic starting gear (a basic gun, backpack, etc) when all of a sudden I hear multiple gunshots across the city. I'm just a newly spawn. Someone near me isn't my friend and they have a gun... And I don't. It imeddiately turned into a pnic to find ANYTHING that does damage over a ranged distance. I searched for crossbows, bolts, 22's even... ANYTHING! But no luck. He even spotted me at one point and started spraying bullets my way, all the time i was running for my like trying to find something to fight back with. My heart was racing and I was actually having fun being scared for my life. I mean, what the !@#$ is fun in the woods surviving or in small towns? The way the grass moves? Gameplay is based on loot and pvp, and it does this decently well... So I give it a 7/10.

Part 3:: Conclusion
I'll make this short as this was already long enough. Standalone is a game where your gonna find a gun and gear in as little as time as possbile and go kill people. Lets just accept it. You'll either love this game or never play it again, so here's what I say. Don't buy this game. Save your 30 dollars and get something good with a story, like stalker or fallout or skyrim.... Maybe even rust. This game is good to some people, but just to save you from wasting money on a game youll never play, I wouldn't buy it (even though i love the game)

It's been a while since I returned to playing this game (and by that I mean years upon years) but I'm solwly discovering how great of a game STALKER really is. There's just so much effort in these games and they're so underrated... These games are honestly for me more fun than Fallout, and I think anyone who calls themselves a PC gamer should try Call Of Pripyat and Shadow Of Chernobyl. 10/10

Honestly this game is amazing. If you like feeling good every time you kill someone because you had to out-think them in a game, this is for you. Just don't buy it if you don't watch Game Of Thrones.... You won't understand the entire player-base in the game. Just sayin.
