Slimy DLC policy with greedy price gouging. Only get this game if none of the profit goes to Paradox.

A pleasant, fairly short game with the only apparent issues being on the technical side of things. This game doesn't make everything nice again, or wrap everything up nicely, there is no 'happy ever after' to be found. It's honest, and I like it for what it is.
The game is visually stunning, if you happen to be running whatever the devs optimized this experience for, sadly it wasn't what I'm playing on. With an i5-6300HQ, a 960 GTX and 8 gigs of RAM, this game was running poorly, unless the resolution was turned way down, and the graphical settings set between low and medium. It is also critical that you turn on V-Sync, seeing as without it, the game runs at 3-300 frames. Even after I got the game to run smoothly, it continued to crash between loading screens, an issue that seems to have been present since launch, and has yet to be adressed. Nice.
Despite it's problems, this game is definitely worth the price. (Mind you, I only paid 12€ for it.)
It's one of the only games that has been able to make me relate so strongly to the protagonist, sharing his delusions, and feeling his dissapointment. By the end, I felt like I was able to put myself in his shoes and was dissapointed by the lack of a magic wand moment, that would fix all of Henry's (my) problems.
Buy this game if you want a nice, laid back game you can play in bed, but don't expect a fairy-tale. Also make sure your system is at the very least decent.

Pros
  • Great story
  • Personal freedom to achieve goals in your own preferred way, similar to half-life
  • Sense of progression, you dont feel overwhelmed, or like the game is a breeze
  • Features a d20 system
  • Companion system with actually difficult decisions to make, that affect the game's direction

Cons
  • Older game, so the aspect ratio can look bad, can be modded though
  • The graphics are quite dated, but again, can be remedied

Don't usually enjoy RPGs all that much, but this game manages to do it right. Definitely worth a try, if you like RPGs, the Legends Universe, or stellar storytelling.
