This game is a lot of fun multiplayer. Really easy to just pick up and go hack and slash.

Great loot system and level progression, and interesting environments!

Are there any bugs in this game? NO BUGS FOR ANY OF US YET! Holy hell that is impressive to see these days.

We had a lot of fun playing this online! Highly recommend!

A game this old still has a large multi player base for a reason. It is one of the best MP real time strategies ever made, in my opinion.

The single player campaign is one of the best I've ever played in the genre as well.

Some things still annoy me:

I really wish you could use WASD to move the camera
Sometimes the pathing AI can be infuriating- why do tank always like to spin 270 degrees to slowly drive away with their weakest armor exposed? It should be easier to get them to simply reverse instead of spinning to leave!

All in all, great game. I haven't tried the 2nd one yet, looking forward to it to compare.

Early Access Review
I dragged my feet before buying this game, I rarely spend $30 on a single title let alone something in Early Access! DayZ ruined Early Access for me, so jaded and grumbling I was decided to take a shot on this game.

Wow.

If you like colony/base management games, you are going to love this. This game is easily addictive and re-playable. It has tons of mod support, meaning endless ways to play the game.

I still am wary about early access titles, but this game has been beyond worth it.

A great turn based strategy in a fantasy based setting that will leave even old enthusiasts of the genre impressed.

Choices matter with this great RPG, and this is one of those few RPG games that is worth playing again to try for different outcomes.

Early Access Review
So much to say about this game....

If you can get past (or if you prefer) the pixel graphics, this game has everything you could hope for in a Zombie survival game.

Base building, loot, character progression, open world sandbox, and some hardcore realism.

You can tweak the rules as you see fit, but give default a try first. The multiplayer works great, and team building is very rewarding. Zombies are slow and weak, but if you get surrounded by a herd with nowhere to run then prepare to become lunch!

I know, it has been in early access for a long time; but it's playable right now. Grab it, because if this game looks even slightly appealing to you, then you are going to enjoy it!

Turn based strategy, camp and character management, and a pretty sweet progression system make this game one of my favorites.

I'm a fan of the zombie genre in general, but so many games just do it wrong. This game gets it right, and it didn't let me down.

I still love/hate this game and I can't recommend it.

What a waste. They could have easily learned from the mistakes of H1Z1. They could have listened to the players.

The idea of Battle Royale has been such a blast in gaming. I saw the rise and fall of H1Z1 and I can plainly see the same mistakes causing the same problems all over again.

People have been asking for ping lock for months now, they finally implemented some half measure and you still get people with 300+ ping able to shoot you around a corner. Still broken.

People have been asking for better anti-cheat since this game started. Ever play DayZ? The same garbage anti-cheat BattleEye that does not work there also does not work on PUBG. People with ESP can see you through walls, shoot you through walls, with iron sights at 400m while you are driving a motorcycle because they have auto aim. I stopped counting the amount of times I ran into cheaters long ago.

People have been asking for better optimization and bug fixes. They've been working on it, but come on- they released this out of Early Access and we still have same bugs for months. How many squad games have I played in which myself or one of my squad members get stuck on a load screen and have to reboot their game?

And really, after generating a billion in revenue you would think this company would do more to listen.

We still only have 2 maps, We still only have the 1 game mode- zombie mode is pointless as it is so I cannot count more than just the battle royale.
The only content being added are cosmetic skins for micro-transactions. They keep adding skins and creating a market for the skins and their crates, and this draws in many players who only play to try and generate profit! They will either idle their games or they cheat to get quick points to purchase crates. Even if/when they eventually get banned, they have already generated enough to buy another copy of the game on another account.

It is really disheartening. I really enjoyed this game, and at times I still do. I just know it could have been so much better, and with all the financial support it has received I believe it should have been.

TL;DR:
I've had a lot of fun in this game, but I can no longer recommend it. Hopefully things might change sometime soon, but if it doesn't you should probably save your money because this is going to end up a sinking ship just like H1Z1.

I used to play this a lot back in the day. I took a few years off and recently came back to it, and I am having a lot of fun with it.

Update 3-1-18:

I am changing my review to positive, as it seems they have addressed most of my complaints and delivered new and fun content. I'm glad to see this game turn it around. I don't play it that much anymore, but when I do it has been a lot of fun.

I left my old review here just so it can be seen.

Current: 6/10

OLD REVIEW:

Posted: Mar 12, 2017 @ 8:46pm

Literally 25% of my playtime, maybe more, are load screens and waiting in the lobby. Dozens of hours wasted because it is entirely broken.
Playing with friends will only make the wait time even longer, you can literally expect to wait 15 minutes to play a 10 minute match.

When you finally do get to play, expect the more than occasional gamebreaking lag. Expect to be mismatched, the 'ranking' system will commonly rank the lowest with the highest. Expect the occasional toxic player.

Throw it all together, and it just becomes too negative of an experience. It's really sad, because when it does actually work it can be pretty fun. The development team seems to focus more on adding content rather than quality, which is killing the game.

F13 is coming out soon, and while I never expected to be such a big fan of the gaming genre, I have a feeling I will be uninstalling Dead by Daylight shortly after the launch of F13 if these major issues aren't being addressed by then.

Great game.

I was not expecting much from this title. I bought this game for very cheap awhile back and it took me a long time to get around to playing this. I am really glad I gave it a fair shot.

It is a great RPG with a lot of original ideas brought to the table. So far, I have found the game world to be vast and the level system to be very rewarding. There are some innovative ideas brought to spell crafting, and overall I have had a lot of fun playing this so far.

I have yet to try the online multiplayer but look forward to it.

Highly recommended for RPG fans.
