Spent 2 hours on trying to get it work, reinstalled 6 times. Doesnt do sht. The game dies at start right away.
No fix, the net is full with 7 billion types of bs ranging from minimum system requirements issues, compatibility issues, crash on auto save and the list goes on, but there is no support.
Changing admin or compatibility modes does nothing. The game is dead.

Im so frustrated at this point that i see red. Why the actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ f*ck is some bs on steam that wont even start up?

I was severely disappointed with 2k's X-com 1 considering their choices of leaving game elements such as base defense and infrastructure out of it, then adding it back in as a single run dlc mission. All you had to do was to copy the original and maybe add some to it, and you were incapable of doing so due to typical corporate bs reasons.

To my surprise however they have taken 1's formula, did several twists on it, and actually managed to overall improve the gameplay, wastly improving the game's life in the process as well.
I hate to admit to it every each thing that has been removed in x-com 2, makes overall sense and does not disturb the experience. It plays fluid.

My only grievance with the game lies with its dlcs which (at least to me) seem to be handled by not the dev team but some random group of ppl, adding completely random ideas. The peak of this was alien hunters with its pirate and feudal weaponry of flintlock pistols and axes, then not being able to disable the absolutely rabid bosses which might be fun to play around with in a basic mission, but should they spawn in timed or base defense mode.... well... basically: Congratulations, you have earned yourself a ruined campaign due to rng and developers who were too drunk or disabled to think with common sense.

TL;DR: If you are a strategy fan, especially that of turnbased, and/or liked the original x-com ufo games, this is a must. Its worth it.

The summation of this dlc is this simple: Ruined campaigns
After reading the reviews i set out to experience the expansion for myself. Initially, i did not have too bad a time with it. Granted, the bosses run on completely different rules compared to basically any and all other units in the game, but they can be dealt with.
Mostly.
Alas when i say mostly, then i mean that the chance of them spawning inside missions has been handled by someone on the development team who.... most likely has a very.... unique... set of mind...
It was all fine and dandy till the bosses started to spawn inside timed missions where they made moving around basically impossible, and then having ended up with one of them in a base defense mission when 5 groups of enemies come raining down on you.... just no. Its gg, wp, no re. You basically got your entire game ruined by someone who thought its a good idea to make these bosses spawn in any and all missions regardless of their difficulty.

Its lazy development at best, utter and insane levels of ignorance and mental disability at worst.
To add to the hilarity you cant disable them and if you try it will make them forcefully spawn on you. Literally. The only way to control their spawning is by not disabling but ENABLING your dlc which will give you the starting mission for them which then you should not touch.

Severely bad game design on this dlc and then we didnt talk about the bonus equipments... flintlock pistol and harpoon gun because god knows that the very thing you want to see in a futuristic scifi game is an axe and a flintlock pistol...

TL;DR: This dlc can be fun, but even under the best circumstances, you can call it only controversial due to extremely retarded design choices and lack of options to control its content which sadly has a difficulty setting anywhere between 0 and 1000 depending on the mission you get them on.
Always enable this dlc if you want to keep the bosses under control, and make sure to tell the devs that designing like a drunk ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is not exactly a good way to go about things.

You will hardly find a game that has a more thought out and better soundtrack than this.
The harmony between sound and gameplay elevates this piece into art category. Add the fact that the graphical design itself is born from a similar mindset and you got yourself one of the most unique gems gaming has ever produced.

I highly recommend it, though sadly replay value is a bit low and the game itself is way too damn short.
This ride should have lasted longer to leave a lasting impression. This way, its just an extremely bright flash.
All i can promise is that you will remember it.

Teaches you why graphic is not required when you have an actual story and gameplay.

Nothing to say really. Everyone knows it. Everyone loves it.
The best RPG experience in a while.
Also: Mod it till its broken.

Tower defense with rpg elements... that sounds... curious if not insane doesnt it? And yet if its possible at all to pull it off, defenders quest did it in a non cringeworthy, astonishing way.
Personally, im greatly against mixing genres just in order to appeal more potential customer groups. More often than not, these crossovers result in shallow, trash experience. Yet from time to time, games like this one pop up where every part of the game is as its supposed to be, while at the same time, they still manage to blend perfectly.

If for absolutely nothing else, you have to praise defender's quest for the execution. Its something that seeks its equal.
If you are into tower def games. GET IT. Highly recommended.

If you played the series, you will enjoy it without a doubt.
The sweet taste of strategy combined with puzzle gaming. Unique, simple, oddly satisfying.

I enjoyed this game to the point when i ran into the "buy more ships" ranking system. Not only does this game force you to essentially play all 3 races in order to get race tokens to upgrade with (or wait and hope for a kit to drop) but also it makes it mandatory for you to level up other ships just for the sake of advancing your choice of role.

In essence: You want to play medic (engineer)? Sure son, level up heavy, sniper and spy for it. So not only do i have to level up the synergy of the engineer branch, but hey, just to make sure you play for a long long time: Level up EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE AT ALL TIMES, because thats how you advance your one single chosen role.

I like the game, good graphic, enjoyable battles, good weapons, interesting ship tweaking and so on, but leveling up a branch is hard on its own. The moment you understand that you basically need to level up everything: Its gone. There is in no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way enough diversity in this game to justify 999999999999999999 hours till you max out basically everything, and then we still didnt speak a damn thing about rare crafting mats and what not.

This software makes a korean farming simulator look like a cozy little stroll in the park on a warm spring afternoon.

The game and the concept is fine. Its even a bit more than what you would expect out of it. That being said, im not one to fuss over match waiting times, but panzar here is just flatout broken. When you have to wait for a single match for up to 20 minutes, things are just ought to not work out no matter what.
