Although it is still in Alpha, and is lacking a lot of the content, DayZ is pretty fun. What, I think, sets it apart from the mod is that you only have your one character - it's not server dependent, meaning that no matter which server you are on, you still keep everything.
I've not noticed that many bugs myself - I have had disappearing items, but that is really just down to server lag, waiting normally allows them to appear.

If I had to tell you what my real problem with this so far, other than the lack of zombies (I really don't mind this, I actually prefer the idea there only being a few survivors and nothing else) - the problem is the players. Most people are just ♥♥♥♥♥, and shoot on site. Now, having invested a while in getting your gear, and then being taken down randomly is just infuriating, and I'd rather people at least threaten you, make you drop your items and then walk away first, but no. However, this is more a problem with the community, and if you have friends of your own, you may just escape this.
My recommendation is based mainly on how I've actually done well, more than the promise the game shows - don't get me wrong, there is so much room for improvement - more weapons, more items, vehicles etc, but now the devs have a more solid base to add to.

Game of the Universe

After playing Civ V, the most obvious conclusion that I can come to is that it is just my favourite game. It's just great fun, and the Gods and Kings expansion is a must - adding news units as well as religion. Brave New World also seemingly adds a similar level of depth, although I'm yet to pick that up, and I just hope that more content is added.

So, 2K, your people look to you to create more DLC to stand the test of time

This is immense fun, easy to grasp and is extremely satisfying when you decapitate two people with a halberd.

Fun game; I bought this on PC when my PS3 died and it was still fun in my 13th playthrough (enhanced by mods).

Possibly the greatest game; R:TW never gets old and is just beautiful...

It's just awesome.
