What a game to purchase on a whim, wow. I had never played Dark Souls or really any kind of Soulslike before, but the hype around Elden Ring was huge and I decided to just go for it, buying a copy for my PS5. I fell in love pretty quickly, the difficulty being just the right amount between genuinely challenging and thrilling and yet not exhaustively frustrating or insurmountable. The music is also 1000% my jam, so that was great too.

Eventually circumstances made me buy a Steam copy - it was just easier to play on my PC (or later, my Steam Deck) because I don't have ready access to a TV - so I started all over again and finally beat the game proper-like. Played through Shadow of the Erdtree, loved that too, and now I'm entering NG+ to get the other endings and play some of the Seamless Co-Op mod with a friend.

Elden Ring easily sits upon the Top 5 Favorite Games of All Time list for me, and probably held the #1 spot for a year and some change before Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came and blew everything out of the water lol. I'm intrigued by Elden Ring: Nightreign, look forward to the next FromSoftware project, and have since expanded my Soulslike fare with Lies of P and a couple others on my to-do list like The First Berserker: Khazan.

Apparently I like hard games now, and there ain't nothin' wrong with that hehe
