RaceRoom Racing Experience (also referred to as R3E) is a racing simulator. What that means is that the game gives you a variety of race cars and race tracks to choose from with a focus on simulating real racing. If you're looking for city driving or an open world experience you're barking up the wrong tree, period -- this game is just not for you. With that out of the way, here are some reasons why you might (or might not) be interested in RaceRoom:

Pros
- Sounds: Easily the best sounds of any sim. From what I've noticed, given the sims I've played, pretty much all of the sounds for every car are fantastic: internal and external alike. This isn't like other games where sound quality varies wildly per car.
- Free to play: The game is free to play and you can also try out any car and track in the store for a limited period of time (I believe this was recently changed to a full day trial, up from the 5 minutes or so that it used to be). You don't need to dump money into this game if you don't believe it's worth it.
- Adjustable physics: If you haven't fully caught on to the whole "sim" thing you're welcome to adjust the physics to your liking, from "Amateur" with various driver aids to "Get Real" which focuses entirely on emulating the driving experience one would get in real life.
- Force Feedback: Over the years Sector 3 has really made strides in improving the force feedback of this game and as such I can definitely say that, in my personal opinion, R3E has some of the best FFB of any sim available today. Recently, Sector3 pushed out a major updated vastly changing the FFB feel for all of the cars, allowing for a wider variety of different sensations while driving. What was already among the best has only gotten better, especially among the GT3 cars which received the biggest update.
- Controller support: Sector 3 has outdone themselves with the controller support in this game. Driving with a controller yields a lot of feedback and really gives you a feel for what the car is doing at any given time. If you don't have a wheel for whatever reason but do have an applicable gamepad and are looking for a sim to play this sim is definitely for you. Consider checking out this guide[forum.sector3studios.com] to setup your gamepad.
- VR and Triple Screen support: If the lack of or improper support for these things put you off before, just know that they're available now and the game might be worth picking up again if you dropped it specifically because of one of these things.
- GT3 cars: Ever since Sector 3 redid the physics of the GT3 class cars, this game has quickly become the go-to GT3 simulator for me. If GT3 cars are your preferred car class (and if you're like most people, they probably are), you need to check this out. Sector 3 updated GT3 car physics yet again since I last posted this review and these cars have only become better. The cars are a little bit slower but much more realistic in handling.
- FWD Cars: R3E does FWD cars better than any other sim, IMO. If you're into that, look no further.
- Damage modelling/physics: The damage model used to be a con without any way to punish miscreant players, but now it's definitely a pro. The damage modelling in this game has come a long way now with suspension damage, tyre flat-spotting and more ways of breaking the car finally arriving. I would say the damage model is up to par with iRacing now (if not better) and the days of people ruining others' races knowing that their cars won't be significantly damaged if they decide to hard punt someone seem to be a thing of the past now. The damage model is still not perfect, of course, but I imagine it can only improve over time. If people aren't careful, they will ruin their own race as well as that of others!
- AI: The AI in this title is absolutely fantastic. They're very aggressive/racey without being overly "punty." The AI isn't perfect but the quality is definitely up there.
- More to Come: Dynamic daylight progression is a good sight and a great omen for things to come. The game also features many new tracks that rarely (if ever) appear in other sims, which is definitely a huge plus. It also looks like Raceroom is starting to make its first push towards proper ranked multiplayer, so it seems as though the coming year(s) will have a lot to look forward to.

Cons and other potential negatives
- Career: This is more of a soft con (i.e. not really a con if you don't care) than anything. This game has no "career" mode (the closest you'll get to that are custom championships) so if that's what you're looking for you're not going to get it from R3E.
- Multiplayer: This also isn't exactly a con since this game does indeed have multiplayer, but if you're interested in the kind of structured pick-up-and-play nature that iRacing has you will not get this here. Sector3 has been looking to make improvements in this area though, so keep your eyes open. For the time being, though, Sim Racing System[www.simracingsystem.com] and JustRace[www.justrace.net] offer RaceRoom support, providing 3rd party alternatives to iRacing's matchmaking system. If that tickles your fancy, consider checking them out.
- Pricing Structure: Pricing structure is a bit weird. You have to buy every car and every track, which I don't necessarily see as a problem, but if you buy a car pack once and Sector3 releases several new cars for the class of cars you bought, you cannot buy the car pack again. I don't personally care about this but this is something that seems to put people off so it's worth considering.

Overall a great sim, and definitely worth giving a shot despite the (unfairly given) mixed reviews. Easily up there with Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, rfactor 1/2, iRacing, AMS, PC2, etc. You don't necessarily need a wheel to enjoy it but like every other sim I would strongly advise you to get one in order to get the most out of the gameplay. Pricing structure could definitely be better but I can definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a proper racing sim.

* This review was altered somewhat to reflect my opinions (and changes to them) on the December 11, 2019 patch changes.

Not that type of chest, perverts! There are a total of 163 chest quotes in game and I can't find a guide for this subject, I plan to play each chapter pretty thoroughly to find these chests (hence me taking 20 hours to complete the prologue >.>) and list a
