If you've played many mobile games akin to this, it is pretty much Rise of Kingdoms x Anime x Genshin Impact UI for the shop. It seems interesting, but also weirdly optimised for English players (randomised resource packs are in-fact, not random despite saying so)

If you're into these mobile games, give it a go. I unfortunately couldn't stick it out long enough to see how pay-2-win it is compared to games like Game of War, Rise of Kingdoms, State of Survival, Vikingard, etc.

As a kid I absolutely loved SWAT 4, and Ready or Not pretty much delivers on that level of nostalgia I am looking for.

If you're lucky, you are paired up with 4 others in multiplayer where you choose a location and mission type (such as bomb defusal, hostage rescue or barricaded suspects), and work together tactically to complete the mission without loss of life, whether that be you or civilians.

While it's still Early Access, there is plenty of content to keep you going from what I can see. You can complete runs with flash, stinger or gas grenades, customise your weapons and alternate between your tactical weapon such as a breaching shotgun, a door wand or even a riot shield.

The price I think is completely justified. I have read on the forums that the developers have a bad history of being active / keeping people in the loop. This will probably scare some people, to which I say wait. Don't spend $50+ until you feel confident the developers will deliver a good product. But I can say right now, that Ready or Not is a great successor to SWAT 4 and a game I'll be enjoying.

DISCLAIMER: So in my 65 hours of writing this review, I've probably spent about 3 hours total AFK. Also please disregard the people complaining about queue times. They are trying to join the highly populated servers to see their favourite streamers that will not acknowledge them. There are many servers with low to medium population where the game will still feel lively.

New World is an MMORPG developed by Amazon Games, with an obvious focus in PVP. The game is set in a world called Aeternum, a decent size map segregated into areas with different levels. The aim of the game? Max as much as you can and participate in Faction warfare, which is split into three factions; Covenant, Marauder and Syndicate.

PROS

  • Graphics are stunning. I have a RTX 2090 and i9 processor, and run on very high except shadows on high.
  • The combat is refreshing from most MMORPGs which utilise mashing abilities together (which can be fun in it's own way)
  • The economy is player driven. At the start of the game, don't expect the markets to be that easy to navigate. Everyone will try to undercut everyone, and you will need to figure out what people will want to buy and a reasonable price for it.
  • The Faction PVP is one of the best parts of this game. If you are not into Faction PVP, you will find mid to end game to be less interesting as you complete the storyline, reach max professions and max level.
  • Gathering is a grind. I count this as a pro because the market is player driven, and this encourages players to put in the effort to be able to make the best gear and weapons, making them market dominators.
CONS

  • Server queues. Amazon is working on fixing this but players would not complain about this if they stopped trying to join the most populated servers in the cluster. Pick up a medium sized server. On my server, the longest time I have had to wait is 2 hours at peak time, but the average wait time is 0 to 30 minutes.
  • The storyline is basically non-existent. It is there for those who are truly devoted, but it is not as captivating as games such as Everquest, Lord of the Rings Online or Star Wars: The Old Republic.
  • New World puts a large focus on PVP mid to end game to keep it interesting. There are still PVE options such as dungeons, corrupted breaches and sieges, but not nearly enough content to keep PVE only players interested.
  • As the game is still fresh out of release, there are still some bugs and server issues to be ironed out. The game stops you from seeing people more than about 10 metres in front of you if there are too many people in the area. This makes PVP extremely difficult as you start getting shot from the air. People have complained about being stuck in rocks, the compass breaks if you join parties occasionally, there are a plethora of running glitches, and gathering and looting becomes EXTREMELY delayed during peak server time.

Overall, this game still has a ways to go to becoming a GREAT MMORPG. As of now, I am incredibly addicted (I even missed day one launch). If you want to enjoy this game, I highly suggest joining a strong company that owns territory, and actively participate in it's management, growth and wars.

TL;DR Read my damn review.

I've left comments open to allow for debates and questions. Please refrain from attempting to start arguments or troll. Review comments are meant to help potential buyers make a decision on whether a game is right for them now. later or never.

War... war never changes.

If you like wars, logistics, bunker and defence building, operations, tank warfare, dying countless amount of times to mortars and howitzers, playing as a medic or just enjoy people playing loud music on the battlefield, this is the game for you. This review might be a bit lengthy, but that's because I wanna cover the good and the bad, since I see an abundance of discussions about people being curious about the game, or saying some misleading stuff.

Premise of the game: The game is set in a WW1 environment, where two factions fight it out in a 24/7 persistent war. The Wardens, and the Colonials (best side in my opinion, very bias). The map is set with 23 regions, where some sections are blocked out and the rest is divided evenly to both sides. Both sides must battle it out to contest regions, and claim victory points in order to win the war. Wars can last for months on end, depending on which side plans the war better.

PROS:

❖ Always something new: There are a large variety of things you can do in this game. You can be a medic on the front lines, or a tanker, or just your average infantry. You can build up bunker bases and defences for towns. You can do logistics for your team (almost everything you see is built by players. All the guns, vehicles, tanks, bunker bases and some structures). Launch partisan raids behind enemy lines and disrupt their logistics, to help a town siege or a front. Train the new guy on how to not die in 2 seconds.

❖ Intense action, or a relaxing logistics hub: The fronts on this game can be I N S A N E. If both sides have high population in a region, you will constantly be bombarded with gun fire, tanks, mortars, howitzers, grenades, gas and more. I've seen an enemy town be besieged for 3 days straight before we took it. I mean three real days. 72 hours. Non stop. You can find a lot of action in this game if you go to the front line. If the action isn't for you but you still want to contribute to winning the war, logistics will always need a hand. See a front running out of soldier supplies that are needed to deploy? Get those shirts there and help out! You could be the reason a front lasts an extra 15 minutes, or an hour if you do it well.

❖ The community: While you'll see a lot of comments about the toxic community, mass reports, and general disgust in general about the developers, I tend to disagree with this. This is a classic situation where people will only report on the bad, as opposed to the good. I've never seen a mass report, or been intentionally team killed. The developers seem quite active (although I will agree that sometimes they prioritise updating the wrong things), and the community in general is actually willing to have a fun time and help new people. There are clans and squads designed just for the purpose of helping out the new guy. If you buy the game, don't be afraid to say in world chat that you are new, how can I help and who can help me.

❖ Graphics and Gameplay: Now, this game isn't perfect. The gunfire can be iffy. Tanks can be stopped by a bicycle. A mortar can land at your feet and a small piece of cloth can protect you (yes, this has happened to me, thank god). However, the graphics are pretty good in my opinion. The lag isn't too unbearable considering people from all over the world play on one server (well multiple, since I am pretty sure each region is it's own server. Load time into a region is only about 10 seconds for me). The gun play and combat in general can be fun once you get used to it. At first you'll be irritated, because you swear you aimed at them but missed, but you'll learn how to assess if your shot will hit or miss when you play enough.

CONS:

❖ Grind: This is one of those games where you can grind for hours on logistics, and have nothing to show for it. You could make 300 clips of ammo, just for a lot of it to be burned out in a couple hours and no progress made. This is just part of war. Remember that both sides are using ammo. This is a battle of which side stays best supplied, and who runs out first and makes the push. (and oh, who uses their tanks better. Tanks run the battlefield most of the time)

❖ Server queue: If your side reaches max population, you best believe you'll be waiting in queue for sometimes an hour just to join. But wait, if you die you could wait up to a minute just to respawn. If you don't like long wait times, don't complain, just go to a different front and fight there. There will always be a different region fighting too.

❖ Some clans: Now clans can be tricky. There are most clans who are willing to help you out and help the faction altogether. However, there are some clans who think they are number one and can solo the war. Don't let this discourage you. Assess who is good and who is bad based on what people say in world and region chat. Avoid asking people since there will always be biased opinions. (P.S. If you see a tank, or a vehicle of any sort, for the love of god ask before you touch it. I know you want to play with the big boom boom tank, but they are expensive, and remember that almost everything in this game is built by players. If you ask to play with their toy and they say no, ask them how to make one for yourself or ask them to teach you).

HOW I RANK THIS GAME: My own opinion on this game is that it is not for everyone. If you tend to like action and strategy, I think you'll enjoy it. 2 hours is not enough time to judge this game. You'll need at least 10 to get a good feel of the gameplay and mechanics and decide if you like it. Watch some Youtube videos, read some discussions and ask questions in the community to see if it's right for you. Overall, I give this game a 7.5/10. It's a good game, but definitely has ways it can improve.

Cheers for reading this review if you got this far. If you ask a question in the comments about the game, I'd be more than happy to answer honestly (I want to see some new people but I won't mislead you into spending $30.00). Hopefully I'll be seeing some new privates out on the field soon!

Great if you want to learn guitar, just be prepared for a lot of miss and late because it doesn't like bends or you getting 100% on Through The Fire and Flames :)

Played DayZ slightly on ArmA 2, thought it was amazing but I was into ArmA 3. Then this came out. It was TRASH. Absolutely boring and lacking in every way imaginable. Lack of gun variations, no building, no cars, badly optimised.

NOW. It is waaaaaaaaay better. You'll still rage because you just spent 10 hours collecting gear, just to have it stolen or you get killed. You'll keep playing though, because you love the torture. I highly recommend community servers however, because there are more players, more wipes and the mods really flesh out the game.

Gedonia is an indie open-world RPG where you decide what build you want to be and decide where you want to go next. Developed by a single developer, this little gem has proven to be a game worth keeping an eye on as it ages.

PROS:

► Nice graphic style.
► Constant updates with a developer who listens to his community.
► Interesting character progression.
► Large map with multiple locations and dungeons.

CONS:

► Still very early access. Don't buy it if you can't handle early access.
► Still requires some optimisation (overall it is okay).
► Still some bugs here and there. I'm sure they'll be addressed soon.

Overall, for $16.95 AUD, the game is well worth it if you are happy to support the developer through Early Access. Additionally, you can watch my YouTube Let's Play if you'd like to get an idea on how the game feels.
