I definitely enjoyed playing this game. It's a relaxing, atmospheric, fox game without any commentary, except the animal noises (which this time are real fox noises from the Foxes of SaveAFox! Not like the dog noises from SOTN1) and instrumentals. With those parts it's sticking to it's roots from SOTN1. "Everything" else is different this time.

All in all I can still recommend the game, but expect it to be a whole lot bigger than SOTN1.
While SOTN1 was a 11/10 for me, this game barely makes a 8/10 for me.
You still need to keep in mind that this game was made by an indie studio, which does not have all the resources big studios have.


And you need a beefy PC for this game, as seen in the recommended PC Specs.


Careful, SPOILERS ahead... I will go into detail for game mechanics and the map+collectables.

You got a huge open world with (partly) way too empty spaces. A lot of collectables of which you will need (almost) every single one for 100% completion.
There is game mechanics for collecting all the items, but you gotta be somewhat close to them to see it, so it's not thaaat big of a help most of the time. I personally looked at a walkthrough map, after finishing the game and (almost) discovering the entirety of the map. There are some empty spots, which have infrastructure for collectables, but only have an Obelisk for map discovery (+1 Achievement) and some shards/money. So those are kind of unnecessary.

Story-wise it links to the old game, but has some inconsistencies in it.

The game mechanics are nice and annoying at the same time. You need to equip and unequip runes a lot, which sometimes breaks the flow of the game. It would have been better if you get the abilities permanent and toggle on or off specific abilities with a button, which you don't need all the time, like the sinking rune. Especially the two (yes... two...) Raven runes felt really unnecessary, you could have just given the Raven both abilities. And also because you get the 2nd rune close to the end of the game.

Graphics wise it looks really nice, unfortunately the got rid of the amazing snow physics of SOTN1 though. There is some weird texture faults in some parts of the map and inconsistent graphics, but those are normal as even AAA(A) titles got these issues.

I love being a medieval peasant.

I cannot say anything about the accuracy of the map compared to real life. But all in all its really pretty and you need to be able to traverse some small roads. Including tight reversing spots to deliver your trailer, which is really fun to do.

Very fun game.

What a beautiful masterpiece of a game.
Enjoyed every minute of it.

They removed duos

Just leaving this review to get the score up, even though its sad, that we don't have any working charging stations in the game, ...yet and therefore only have Quick jobs with this.
I love electric vehicles with all their flaws and controversies, but short range transportation should be all electric, you are not gonna do your 3000km delivery with an EV...
