Middle aged gamer of over 40 years. I was there for the home console boom, the birth of the internet, the first 3D graphics cards for PCs and so much in between.

I am struggling with mental health and use video games and content creation as a tool to help battle it. Escaping to other worlds through gameplay, then using art and passion to create my experiences in content creation.

Its Time For Some VR Ink

Master of the Tattooverse is an amazing VR SIM where you are a tattoo artist apprentice. As someone who use to do tattoos, I was very excited to dive into this one. and was left very pleased.

Like most sim games, I love being hands on. You did not get to play with anything in the environment, but the tattoo controls and options are great. I would of loved a more interactive tattoo shop, that you could even customize, but what I was given feed my VR tattoo artist bug.

The training dummie is great and a lot of fun to play with. Just pimping him out alone could be a game. I would of liked a free hand though, to move the dummie and customers around. Both of your hands are holding tools. One hand has the tattoo machine of course, the other hand holds a tool called the BB. This lets you select your needle grouping, colors and even slap a stencil on the customer. I would of liked to been able to put one down to adjust the customer.

The customers (only played the first two) were great. Your first customer is a bouncy young woman getting inked for the first time. You have to really read her body language to know when its safe to tattoo with out her moving. The game also takes pain into consideration, since you can't actually have a one on one with the client, you have to watch and listen for signs they are in pain. This really added to the VR immersion of the game. The second customer is a vampire and lets you free style your own artwork on to her. This was great. As a vampire she was the perfect customer. Could take a little pain, and never moved. Plus doing your own custom artwork right away was fun.

This brings up the game controls. The controls of the gun take a little getting use to. But once I did have them under control, I found my foot reaching for the foot peddle in tattooing. Once you learn to hold the tattoo machine in VR, it is really easy to create your own art and will be a tattoo artist in no time. Some of the needle groupings I found a little big for small tattoos, but over all the tattooing experience was great. I played in a PC chair where I could adjust my height while I was tattooing. I found this really helped.

If you look sim VR games, love tattoos, this is a must have game. Just take the demo for a spin, you will be a full time VR tattoo artist in no time.
