I picked up Church Simulator purely for the memes after watching CaseOh stream it, and wow—what a trip. This game is hilariously chaotic. It’s made in Unity, the graphics are all over the place., but that adds to the charm. Case in point: the baby you have to baptize had me wheezing the moment I saw it.

What I love most is that it doesn’t take itself seriously. Sure, it’s loosely based on Christian themes, but the best part is that you can totally make it your own. I named my church “Super Angel Church,” chose a devil baby as our mascot, and went with the slogan, “Meet you in exile.” Iconic. 🙌

If you’re expecting a serious Christian game, this is NOT it. The gameplay is pretty straightforward and can get repetitive, but that’s honestly fine because the ridiculousness is what makes it fun. I do hope future updates lean more into wild concepts—like “Church of Satan” vibes or even more chaotic mascots.

Bottom line: don’t come for theology, come for the laughs. ✌️

As a Millennial who grew up with classics like RollerCoaster Tycoon and absolutely fell in love with Planet Coaster 1, I had sky-high expectations for Planet Coaster 2. After seeing Frontier's fantastic work with Planet Zoo and even Jurassic World Evolution, I thought this sequel would be a slam dunk. Sadly, it hits the classic sequel snag: trying to fix things that weren’t broken.

Pathing Woes:
Look, I get it. The pathing in Planet Coaster 1 wasn’t perfect, but it was manageable. Then, Planet Zoo came along and made it one of my favorite features — simple, effective, and versatile. In Planet Coaster 2, they’ve reworked it, and honestly, it’s a mess. Trying to get that clean, "perfect" crossway or layout feels more like a battle than a creative process. I miss the intuitive flow from Planet Zoo. Maybe with time, I’ll adapt, but right now, it’s a frustrating experience.

Map Size and Theme Confusion:
Bigger map sizes? Yeah, I’m not feeling it. They don’t seem much larger than the original, and if anything, I feel more constrained. And then there’s the theme selection. Mythological and Viking? Awesome. But “Resort”? It feels random, like it’s prepping us for a Planet Hotel spin-off. Sure, I can see it working for a water park, but it just doesn’t fit seamlessly into a theme park setting. I would’ve loved a few more cohesive, classic themes right out of the gate.

First Impressions:
For the few hours I’ve played, the game looks decent enough. The visuals are nice, and there’s a lot of potential here, but the learning curve is steeper than I expected. I want to love it as much as I did Planet Zoo, but right now, I’m left feeling more frustrated than excited. If it leaned more into what made Planet Zoo so user-friendly and engaging, I’d be giving it a thumbs up.

That said, I know Frontier listens to player feedback, so I’m hopeful they’ll make adjustments. I’m holding off on a full recommendation for now, but fingers crossed, I can update this review down the line with a more positive take. Here’s hoping they fine-tune it and bring back the magic we loved in the first game!

Initially skeptical, I decided to give this game a shot on Game Pass before committing, especially since most of my friends play on Steam. To my surprise, it exceeded my expectations. Despite bearing a strong resemblance to certain developers' IPs, almost like Palworld's team fed them through an AI generator, the game is a noteworthy experience, even with its fair share of bugs.

Palworld skillfully blends creature-catching elements akin to Pokemon with the immersive open-world survival style of games like Ark. Despite occasional glitches, the game manages to strike a satisfying balance. The inclusion of "warcrimes" adds an intriguing layer to the overall experience.

For those looking to explore the game without immediate financial commitment, Game Pass provides an opportunity. I'm optimistic that this isn't just a fleeting trend and that Palworld, despite drawing comparisons to other IPs, will carve out its own lasting niche. The recent impressive sales figures for this indie game company suggest a promising future, showcasing Palworld's ability to stand on its own merits.

I really want to recommend this game because I was so hyped for it since it was announced. However there are a lot of flaws that still hasn't been smoothed out since launch. At this point, I will say this is is a "maybe".
If you have even an adequate rig to play this, you are still going to have graphical issues. I personally should play this game on it's "high" settings, however, they look blotchy, blocky, and low res.
CS1 was more "user" friendly and easier to learn than CS2. The tutorial doesn't really work you through issues that come along like "rent too high" or "not enough customers" even though your taxation is the base set at 10% and there is a lot of citizens in the city.
I will edit this later as things improve.

So it takes a good few hour long of playing it to fully get used to it. There really isn't a tutorial system other than a "HELP" menu that goes over things.
It definitely is a time sink and still fun to play.
I would love to see it have an even faster speed than 1x, 2x, and 3x speed. 3x speed is still sorta slow but that's just me.
I'm eager to see how much more can come of this game because it has a lot of potential.

**Edit 2023**
The Ascension update is here and it's reset the game for the better. The tier progression of the items is a wonderful implement along with prestige system. I didn't play most of 2022 so it was nice to see trophy cabinets for the now then new trophies of haunted collectibles (Bones, Ouija Board, Tarot Cards, Music Box, etc).
Playing since the Ascension update actually makes the game challenging until you can get to tier 2 gear (it's the gear most of us was used to using before the update). I like that you have to pay to upgrade them. Certain encounters seem to have gotten more dangerous (Demon).
As of 2023 I still think this game is of value for what it's worth, especially before it goes to console!

Probably another great game of 2020. Sure there are things that needs work but overall this game is pure amazing.
I'm not one for "horror" games but just the thrill of being scared keeps me coming back.

It may look super basic, because it is, but it's challenging and can bring out your anxiety! My palms get super sweaty during this game and it's super addictive and fun!

So I was one of many people who anticipated this games release. I played Planet Coaster and JWE so I was familiar with Frontiers work but I have to say, this is by far the best game they have! I loved Zoo Tycoon as a kid and playing this game has brought back HUGE nostalgia for me.
You have almost 100% customization in this game. Create the park of your dreams!
I haven't played the campaign mode yet but I have done franchise mode which is pretty much where I live on the game. It's so fun to make new parks in different biomes and continents.
The only downfall is that there are the limited animals at the moment though I know like any other Frontier game, there will be DLC packs, like the current Arctic pack. This added 4 new animals to the current 72 making a total of 75 animals you're able to have. Though most of these are from Africa and Asian continents.
Overall this game gets a 9/10 rating from me. I recommend it to anyone who loves park builders or casual games.
