Am I playing it wrong or is this game just terrible?

Im playing the first career option on the seafront. Pathing seems clunky and paths themselves feel terrible. Game seems like a step down from the first game, it definitely does not feel like PC2. Ive only played 2.5 hours though, its difficult for me to continue, game seems... so meh Am I playing this wrong or any tips? Btw loved rollercoaster tycoon games - PC1 was ok but meh, PC2 is very disappointing so far for me...

Our next major release, Update 6 is out now!

This update includes modular souvenir shops, on-ride photos, Pirate and Fairytale themes, additional moving platform options, and a returning flat ride from the original Planet Coaster. We've also included a number of fixes and adjustments to make your gameplay experience even better!

Please read below for a breakdown of what's in Update 6.

Features

Modular souvenir shops
- Build and open your own modular souvenir shops!
- Cash registers and shelves can be connected to modular souvenir shops.
- Vendors work behind the cash register counter, serving guests.
- Customise each shelf by setting different merchandise from the shop menu options.
- Small and large modular souvenir shop blueprints are also available in the Planet Coaster theme.
On-ride photos
- Ride cameras can now be placed on coasters to take photos of guests.
- Ride cameras can then be linked to a photo kiosk shop or counter so the pictures can be bought by guests.
- Custom billboards can use an on-ride photo as a source, where they can be viewed.
Returning themes
- Pirate theme
  - Update 6 will bring Pirate themed static and animated scenery objects to parks as well as Pirate themed music, triggered SFX and ambient audio tracks.
  - Pirate themed fonts are also included for players to further customise their signs.
- Fairytale theme
  - Update 6 will bring Fairytale themed static and animated scenery objects to parks as well as Fairytale themed music, triggered SFX and ambient audio tracks.
  - Fairytale themed fonts are also included for players to further customise their signs.
Standard ‘de-themed’ coasters
- The standard versions of 2 more coaster rides will be included:
- Big M's Rides - Water Coaster
- Movement Construction - Mine Train
Returning ride
- Fully rebuilt for Planet Coaster 2, the flat ride Coriolis is returning from the original game as part of Update 6, ready for you to customise and for your guests to enjoy.
Career Mode Sandbox maps
- Pre-made maps from Career mode Act 4 will be added to Sandbox mode as a starting point for creative projects.
Moving platforms
- More animation types have been added for rotational, horizontal, and vertical moving platforms: Very Fast, Ultra Fast, Very Slow, Ultra Slow.
New profile and Franchise stickers
- 20 New profile stickers have been added for you to further customise your profile.

Updates

Increased blueprint piece count limit
- The limit for the total number of pieces in a blueprint has been increased from 4000 to 8000.
- Multi-Select tools limit has been increased from 5000 to 10,000.
Tutorial enhancements
- Refinements have been made to improve the flow of both tutorial levels 'Keys to the Coaster' and 'In the Swim of Things'.
Placeable speakers - volume sliders
- Players will now be able to control the volume of individual speakers within their park.
- This is controlled by a new slider that has been added to the Info Panel of each placeable speaker.
Music Playlists
- 15 pre-made playlists have been added to the music selection on rides and speakers.
- These playlists span across the existing genres and themes in game, including Fairytale and Pirate!
Additional Audio Settings Sliders
- The following volume sliders have been added to the audio settings, allowing players to control their game mix to their preference: Ambience, Tracked Rides, Flat Rides, Waterparks.

Bug Fixes

We are continuing to review all your feedback and reports and will announce new updates and fixes when they are ready. In the meantime, do please continue to report any bugs on our Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net].

Audio
- Resolved an Audio Settings issue where muting sound effects would also cause UI audio to become muted. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- Added audio to friction brakes on the Vector - LIM Launch Family Coaster.
Career Mode
- Resolved a visual issue where texture glitching could be seen on The Gorgon coaster platform in the 'Keys to the Coaster' Career scenario.
Coasters & Rides
- Resolved an issue with the ride sequence for the Mecha Roller flat ride, the Backwards Dive Flip freeze no longer occurs. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- Resolved visual issues with splashing water when viewing the Double Flume Plughole piece from below.
Guests
- Resolved an issue where guests could become stuck after entering a state of panic on some rides. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- Resolved and issue where the guest thought "I stepped in sick and am now uncomfortable" would appear when guests are not close to any vomit.
- Resolved an issue where guests could get stuck on sun loungers after exiting a pool.
- Resolved an issue causing guests to become stuck after exiting a pool if the connecting path is blocked by a flume or slide. View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
Park Construction
- The number of scenery pieces that can be colour customised at the same time when using the multi-select tool has been limited to 10,000 to reduce peformance related issues.
- The colour on the underside of scaffolding scenery pieces will now match the rest of the asset instead of remaining black. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- Increased the scaling values on glass scenery pieces added in Update 5 to match other glass pieces in the game. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- The rivets on Metal Alloy walls have been adjusted to be more visible, inline with those from the original Planet Coaster.
Staff
- Resolved an animation issue causing security guards to occasionally slide when walking while in a negative mood.
UI
- Resolved an issue where income from facilities would not update correctly in the Staff Zone Previous Day Income or Total Income screens. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
- Resolved an issue where the scale object button on signs would not open the relevant object scale panel.
- Resolved an issue where security cameras without power would provide security coverage on the park security heatmap.
- Resolved an issue on the Security tab of the Park Management screen where an incorrect number of vandalised facilities would be shown.
- Adjusted the wording within the info panel finance tabs of all facilities from 'Lifetime Income' to 'Lifetime Profit' to better communicate this stat.
- Resolved an issue where the Viking guest facility shell blueprints were missing the facility shell icon in the object browser.
- Resolved an issue where ride sync group statuses wouldn't update without opening and closing the Advanced Settings tab.
Workshop
- Resolved an issue preventing parks or blueprints from appearing in the My Creations tab when uploaded to the Workshop as private. - View on Issue Tracker[issues.frontierstore.net]
Stability

Issue about staff timetable

Hi guys, I have an issue about staff schedule. I arranged a mechanic to several structures in his timetable, but he won't get there during the expected period. For example, there is a water pump be in a bad condition, and it was the exactly right time for him to maintain that pump according to his time table. Instead, his condition is like " seeking for a job". Because I have arranged each structure with a mechanic in their schedules, I can not request for the emergent maintenance either. Guest and staff issues.

Sometimes guest will get "Stuck" on a path and ill have to move them to fix it. I also had some staff get "Stuck" and not move at all. even after moving them myself. i have tried firing them, deleting the path under them. i have repaired game files multiple times. tried different settings. Restarted my computer. sometimes it helps but its happens so often its frustrating to play. Been a problem even before the new update....

When I first launched Planet Coaster 2, I was excited — not in the way you get excited for a new relationship, but the kind of excited you feel when your favourite takeaway place changes its logo and you wonder if the food still tastes the same.

The new path system is... technically better, but also manages to be worse. Like a more advanced robot vacuum that somehow still gets stuck under the same chair. Trying to connect paths feels like a spiritual test. The camera, when you try to help, sometimes panics and flings itself (and you) into the sky like it just saw a ghost. It’s very cinematic, but not very helpful.

Building coasters is still the best part — the joyful core of the game. But the prestige system now flickers like a faulty neon sign. One moment, your ride is a masterpiece. Five minutes later, it's a disgrace. Your guests seem confused. Are they boycotting the coaster? Is this a protest? Did I accidentally build an anti-rollercoaster?

There are new scenery items. But most of the game feels like someone took Planet Coaster 1, added some pool floats and lifeguards, and called it a sequel. It’s more of an expansion pack in a fake moustache.

Speaking of pools — the big new feature — they’re absurdly powerful. One pool, any pool, turns your park into a money-printing machine. Add a water slide and your guests achieve pure bliss. It’s like discovering that all your financial problems can be solved by buying a paddling pool.

Terrain editing near water has been downgraded, too. Now you have to remove the water before touching the land. It’s like needing to drink the whole cup before adding more sugar. Why? We had this figured out already.

Then there’s staff management, which has somehow become the most tedious part of a theme park game. I tried to embrace it — I really did. But it feels like doing shift rotas for a restaurant where nobody ever gets fired, and business is always booming. You can just hire a small army and let them roam freely. It’s fine. The game doesn’t mind. It doesn’t punish you for it. It doesn’t reward you either.

Power and water systems are a similar story: introduced with a shrug, handled with two clicks, and hidden underground so nobody has to think about them again. A feature that feels like it was added just to be turned off.

The campaign maps are stunning — so well-made that it feels rude to interfere. You enter a perfect little world the devs clearly poured love into, and then ruin it by placing a pre-built hotdog stand next to a koi pond.

And that’s kind of the problem.

Planet Coaster 2 feels unsure of what it wants to be. As a creative sandbox, it’s brilliant. Bugs aside, the tools are there to make something beautiful. But if you want a game — with challenges, stakes, or any kind of tension — it’s lacking. The economy is easily broken, the systems are easy to ignore, and the challenge is mostly administrative.

Graphically? It looks about 90% the same. The music still bangs though.

If you loved Planet Coaster 1, you’ll enjoy this — but only after the first few updates and a decent sale. It’s less a reinvention, more a mildly chaotic family reunion with some new cousins and an inflatable pool.

Souvenir Shops

So I've built a custom Souvenir shop near the main entrance of my park, populated shelves, connected them, as well as a register...connected a clear doorway and path too. Guests start towards the door, then turn away. EVERY TIME. Ideas? I should add that I do have barricades in the walls so guests don't walk through them, but not in the doorway obviously. Anyone interested in a multiplayer which will allow the players to build and manage the same park at the same time? This game is better then ever. Perhaps multiplayer is the next step. Show hype.

Planet Coaster 2 is a fantastic evolution of the original game, offering even more creative freedom, detailed park management tools, and beautifully designed rides and scenery. The improvements in ride customization and guest behavior really make the experience feel more immersive and alive. Building and managing your own theme park is as rewarding as ever, with endless possibilities to design parks exactly how you imagine them.

One small downside I’ve encountered is that I have to lower the graphics quality so the game doesn’t crash on my computer. That said, I know this is more of a limitation on my end than a problem with the game itself. When it runs smoothly, the visuals are stunning and full of life.

Overall, Planet Coaster 2 is a well-crafted and enjoyable simulation game that fans of the genre will love. Just make sure your system is ready to handle all the detail it has to offer!

Frontier has added so many things to this game at this point that, on paper, it should be the perfect theme park sim. The things you can do in PC2 like the actual working custom restaurants and souvenir shops, animating custom scenery, the graphics it's all incredible. However, I can't shake the feeling that we got ripped off. I paid full price for the game solely for item scaling (resizing) and at launch the game was absolutely dismal.

Since then, Frontier has been sticking to their update road map for adding new content and it feels like the biggest slap in the face I have ever received from a publisher. Planet Coaster 2 launched with next to no scenery options compared to it's predecessor, and their solution has been to drip feed all of the assets back to us that we already have in Planet Coaster 1. My issue with Planet Coaster 2 is that it feels like it should have been a $25 DLC or update to Planet Coaster. What it feels like to me is me spending $50 to play Planet Coaster with better graphics and three new scenery themes. It feels like Frontier left Planet Coaster with issues, namely the pathing system, so that they could fix it and sell the same game back to you. I still play it, I still enjoy it, but I just feel completely disrespected and taken advantage of as a fan of the franchise. If you choose to buy it, get it on a good sale. I would urge anyone not to support Frontier in the way that they've handled this sequel.
