...not my usual review ...but it'll do for now and hopefully helps 'you'

I 'had' 4x Xbox 360 Controllers, 2x PS4 Controllers and 2x Wii Controllers all configured for gaming on Windows/Linux, along with (my old favourite) a Logitch G13... now with currently 2x Steam Controllers and another 2x hopefully arriving by the end of 2015, I honestly feel I will no longer need any of the above (excluding the G13 which I use for creative/editing software as well), because the Stream Controller is that good.

Sure, it's not going to fully replace my Keyboard (currently an old Logitech G110) or my Trackball Controller (a Logitech M570), but it's damn fRiKiN close and until I get my claws on the Vive VR Controllers, these Steam Controllers meanwhile work great in VR and with more options than I've ever seen on any HiD (even my Wacom tablets aren't this advance).

The only real let down currently is that to access all the Steam Controllers outstanding options and features, the controllers must be used within Steam's Big Picture mode (also known as Ten Foot). When eventually we are able to fully use and configure the controllers outside of Big Picture mode, it will make gaming life a lot easier for all our non-Steam games and applications too. Sure you can add a Non-Steam Game (and application) to the Steam Client that you can then access through Big Picture mode, but this means using precious system resources unnecessarily, that could be dedicated to games that only are accessible via other gaming clients, such GOG's Galaxy, UBiSoft's Uplay, EA's Origin, etc. This isn't the only issue with this part, but if like me, you use more than one screen (monitors/projectors) for gaming, it breaks your choices completely, as Big Picture mode only allows for a single screen (at one time) and must reconfigured each time you wish to use a different screen. Yes, this is more a fault with Big Picture, but as the Steam Controllers 'require' Big Picture to work fully, it's equally at fault.

I'm not sure what to believe, as I've read in random places that this 'might' change and we'll be able to fully configure the Steam Controllers outside of Big Picture ...I 'really' hope it's not just speculation and truly is something that will happen sooner and not a year later, because it's already been long enough now for many of us early Steam Controller adopters.

Any other complaints are really minor to this and I could moan about the controller configuration screens, but these are being updated daily, so can't complain really, and anything else is fine ...-ish. I'll add and update this unplanned review soon, because there's honestly a huge amount more to include.

Lastly... most games in my inventory are slowly being test and fully configured for the Steam Controllers and I'm fully sharing all my controller configurations (as they are completed) 'publicly' ...and 'no one' is setting them up in the same way as I have been doing for the past month now, so if you like one of my submissions, you'll most likely enjoy them all []^,...,^]
