It's a far cry from the original but I have faith if you give the devs time, they'll flesh it out and give it more life.
The soundtrack is really great! Sadly the best tracks only play in your lobby... I'd recommend playing on the harder difficulty or else you're destined to rinse and repeat everything easily and run out of things to do.

Give it some time, let it cook for a while. I'd still recommend it now, but it needs more flavor in the pot for me.

I prefer this one over the second one.
Maybe it's nostalgia or maybe I'm biased but something about this one has a certain style that you just don't get anymore in games. I'd still recommend this one even if you own or have been eyeing the second one.

*Give it a try if you've been thinking about it. One of the best online 2009 experiences you can have!

A delightful buggy mess that will leave you wondering
"Why did I wait this long to load into a game?"

Recommended only for the gunplay and fairly decent physics mechanics.

I figured with the new December 2022 update it was time to drop a review...

You're a S.W.A.T. Officer in a 5 man squad (or less if you choose to play with 1-3 friends instead of a full team)
Some things to consider about the functionality of this game are:

1. -You move fairly slowly which forces you into a much more tactical approach as you cannot turn and sprint away into
cover like a Call of Duty or similar style game.

2. -You can heavily adjust your gear and weapon set before you go into a mission down to the type of ammo you load into your magazines however the fairly small array of weapon attachments to each gun leaves something to be desired and different types of launchers prove to have fairly unpredictable physics.

3. -Suspects AS WELL AS CIVILIANS have truly erratic behavior including but not limited to jumping out from behind walls with a cell phone to snap a photo of you, surrendering only to jump back up with a sidearm to kill you, and pulling out a knife and full sprinting at you with blade drawn.

4. -I have had zero connection issues between both my friends and I OR RANDOM LOBBIES. I think it's safe to say they get an A+ for this one as disjointed and laggy game-play in a game like this would make it pretty unplayable.

5. -The level design of these maps nails something that no other game I've ever played has gotten down and that's making an urban environment feel like a place that is currently being lived in or utilized. Whether it's the vibrant sound design or it's the very well decorated and well thought out areas that you traverse through though; I can't tell.

6. -Each mission type you select on each level randomly generates enemies and civilians on the map so you're never left with the same exact experience on a mission which gives fairly high replayability to each unique mission and map.

*Overall I think it's worth the money with the amount of content there is but you should probably have friends who want to play it as well. It's fun alone with the other 4 guys being A.I. but better with friends.

I paid $2.99 for this game and I have 10 hours in just two days. I can tell I have a lot more to do still... Give it a try.

I'm not going to edit the whole review but since this was posted they have added bots and new content

---WARNING THIS GAME CAN'T BE PLAYED ALONE AS IT'S TOO HARD--- *that warning is no longer valid*

GTFO centers around a big, beautiful, and dark concept of prisoners being sent down into a cave/lab
to perform various dangerous tasks that include using computer terminals to search for equipment/accessing files/turning on-off power systems/defending-retrieving research samples and much more.

The developers put out a system of levels and tasks to be completed differing from one another each "season".
*Once the "season" has completed; the rundown will no longer be playable and you will have to update and play the new one.

I would recommend this game with every fiber of my being. The time attack roguelike ARPG to rule them all.

It's car soccer/futball... What more could you ask for? Nitro boost on your car?
Well then, you're in for a treat.
