To the point. As you can see, I've had a lot of time over these 70+ hours to verify if all these negative reviews are right, and... unfortunately, they partly are. I really like the whole series of Mafia games, and I approached the third part with a little sentiment. I'm not going to dwell on every aspect, I'll rather focus on the generality of how it looks. And be warned, it may be a bit chaotic.

In general, the game itself is good, but.... Well, that's what the "buts" are. The open city and the freedom to perform tasks is a plus, although what of it when there is not much to do there. Stores are seemingly open, there are people in them, but there is no interaction. Weapons and skills are bought in the on-demand van that arrives. Cars are ordered "online." There are supposedly car workshops, but only for selected cars available from the ordered fleet. The city is flat, bland, lifeless really. The artificial intelligence is just dumb, as is the police. I played on difficulty mode, and didn't really have any major challenge during gameplay. Ammunition, weapons and money that fall out of enemies lie everywhere and there is a lot of it. There's no problem running out of something. The graphics are nice, but not from a distance, nor too close up, as they get "unfinished" and blurry.

As for the storyline itself, it's good, has some humor at times, is quite coherent, quite short and can be said to be overall pointless slightly. It is very repetitive, to the point of pain. Throughout the game we do practically the same thing, i.e. liquidate people or goods, only in different places and under different circumstances. It's just boring at times, and looks like it was dragged out by force because there were no ideas. Only the extras save the variety. They are really good and interesting, introducing new mechanics that are not present in the regular storyline, but unfortunately they are quite short, although informative.

The opponents are gone, playing with the police is pointless, driving around the city pointlessly is boring, the driving model itself is not tragic, but slightly rubbery, taking into account the characteristics of the cars of that period.

In conclusion, Mafia III is a specific game. For fans of the series it is an opportunity to return to the climate of its predecessors, and this climate, however, is not missing here as far as we can see, but on the other hand it is a big disappointment, it does not stand out too much. Just such a truncated GTA set at the end of the last century. For me, Mafia was a game that just tried to be something other than GTA, despite its genre, and the "three" a bit succumbed, it seems to me.

For new players instead, those unfamiliar with the series, there is unfortunately not much of anything to interest them. There are no great innovations, and the graphics themselves are sometimes slightly repulsive.

Personally, I really enjoyed myself throughout the hours, although at times it really didn't want to do the same thing again. Due to just the sentiment of the whole series, I can't give a negative review, although leaving that fact aside, I wouldn't be satisfied with this game.
