Darrell Gallagher, studio head at developer Crystal Dynamics, posted a message on the game's official blog explaining the delay. Below is his message:
When Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that we were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers.

The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. We truly believe that we have something very special on our hands and we can’t wait to share it with you.Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait.
The game is looking amazing.

古墓丽影劳拉·克劳馥推出远远晚于最初宣布：达雷尔 - 加拉格尔，水晶动力游戏工作室主席于古墓丽影官方论坛发表道歉声名， 称原定于2012年秋季推出的古墓丽影游戏将延至2013年春季现市。

将发布的古墓丽影劳拉的新冒险第三次尝试一个新的发展方向。在此之前有《古墓丽影：黑暗天使》，《古墓丽影：传奇》并重新启动特许经营权。

L'intrigue est la suivante :
" Alors qu'une violente tempête a détruit son navire, une jeune femme apeurée échoue sur une plage inconnue. Livrée à elle-même, mais loin d'être seule, elle n'a qu'un but : survivre. Ainsi commence la première aventure d'une jeune Lara Croft inexpérimentée : le périple d'une femme ordinaire qui découvre jusqu'où elle doit aller pour rester en vie.

"Oubliez tout ce que vous savez sur Tomb Raider. Dans ce jeu, nous explorons des choses qui n'ont jamais été réalisées auparavant," affirme Darrell Gallagher, responsable du studio Crystal Dynamics. "Nous racontons les origines de Lara Croft, à travers un voyage qui va forger sa personnalité comme aucun autre." Dans le jeu, Lara Croft, fille de parents archéologues, a 21 ans. Elle vient de sortir d'une université britannique où elle a étudié l'archéologie.

Das nächste Tomb Raider mit Lara Croft kommt wesentlich später als ursprünglich angekündigt.
