New Steam profile privacy settings - change to public for sync to work

According to Valve's latest profile changes, the library and wishlist are, by default, visible to friends only. The library and wishlist will not sync correctly unless the "Game details" setting is set to "Public".

If you do not change privacy settings, syncing will not work. Game details is a new setting. Therefore, even if you had profile set to public, Game details will default to Friends Only.

Fortunately, http://store.steampowered.com/dynamicstore/userdata/ still works regardless of your profile settings. If you're using this and Madjoki's script to sync your library and blacklist, it should still work.

I guess I can no longer use the manual sync trick for unclaimed accounts anymore ?
I can have my friends edit their settings, but not the others/new profiles. That sucks...

With 'manual sync trick' you mean adding as a new user?
Well, everybody who wants to use SteamGifts and previously was on public will likely set it back to previous behaviour. But for 'tech noob' users it's indeed an obstacle.

Yes Luckz, Barter had created a manual sync button for me to update both wishlist + library dor those users.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid the users in question don’t use Steamgifts and only play games on Steam. They are not unto trading and stuff. I can instruct some of them, but I’m stuck for the others (and many of the newly added profiles to come).

Unfortunately no way around that at all if they are not your Steam friends.

I plan to remove all provisional user profiles. In addition, clear the wishlists and libraries of unclaimed users and anyone that has been inactive since the privacy change.

Custom wishlists and libraries will not be deleted.

I have set wishlist and games I own to public, but sync still won't work and tells me I need to set it to public. I have playtime private, is that maybe the problem?

It looks like your wishlisted was updated in the last 20 minutes. Did it sync correctly?

Today it did, I no longer have any problems, even though I didn't change anything. *shrug* I'm happy it works now.

The base game is called Ultimate Edition because the publisher is funny like that.
