OS = Operating System = Software
Software is stored on the HDD = Hard Disk Drive = Hardware
It will only install on the drive with the OS installed, so it will never go on your HDD... not unless your doing a dual OS windows based system.
DX, when installed, applies to windows, and windows is probably on your SSD. I'm pretty sure you didn't know this... Modding might be too complicated for you, man.
This is just something all WinOS needs; you can't tell it where to go, as it goes to C:\Windows structure. Honestly there is nothing to worry about. All of this is normal.
If not, the install package for the DirectX routines needed for the game can be found in the game folder. Just look in the sub-folder called Redists and run it.
That's not true, DirectX 9 is backwards compatible and won't interfere with any DirectX 12 routines.
That again is not true, DirectX 12 was already included in the OS. What you downloaded was just the installation package, not the software itself. You already have all of that with Windows 10.
