ERR21:NVAPI error: ffffffffd

i try to run monster hunter, it goes through the logos, the loading files, informs me it uses autosave,then the screen remains black. Audio from what i assume the menu is playing, but i cant do anything as i get the displayed error code Err21: NVapi error: fffffffd

anyone got any idea what this means? I already checked that my computer system is close to the maximum requirement to play so i'm at a loss.

NvAPI is a Nvidia thing. What Nvidia driver are you using? One of the latest hotfixes that Nvidia released were apparently causing issues so people generally recommend installing v398.36 of the Nvidia drivers.

Hi, i had this problem this morning when tryign to run my newly installed game. I tried running it through the GeForce Experience app arther than the steama dn it seems to have bypassed teh issue. Hope it works for you too.

My brother had this same issue. He stupidly had the hdmi cable in the wrong port (the motherboard hdmi port instead of the graphics card hdmi port). So yeah, make sure you have the hdmi cable in the right port.

This seems not to have worked for me, so I am unsure as to what is causing the issue. My guess is that it is either the latest nvidia drivers, or a direct X issue, but considering NVAPI is nvidia's API setting, I assume it must have something to do with the nvidia settings or latest drivers.

EDIT: Okay, so all I had to do to fix my issue was reinstall the latest nvidia drivers and the problem seems to have stopped. My framerate seems to have improved quite a bit as well for some reason! Hope this helps someone.

Thank you for finding this i was going out of my mind tryna work this out. turns out my 18 month old HDD just died at the same time and ive lost everything but at least i can play the game now.

Jeeze! These developers really need to learn how to report errors.

For future reference:

0xFFFFFFFD is -3, which is defined this way in NVAPI:

    NVAPI_NO_IMPLEMENTATION                     = -3,      //!< not implemented in current driver installation

Basically, your driver is old as dirt or only partially installed and the game can't cope with that.
