Curator of the thread here.
I challenged those who claim to 'disagree', to make their own thread and try to disprove that any of the issue reports I have included in the OP are not caused by Gameguard.
That did not happen at all. Instead, anyone can see how my thread is being flooded by the same group in coordination yet again. Just the usual same tired, desperate distruption attempts and embarassingly transparent bait posts continue which are only aimed at starting fights in the thread. Nothing new.
This is exactly why I refuse to engage with certain individuals in any shape or form and warn all reading to be wary.
Even though the evidence about the plethora Gameguard related issues is there and provided by the truckload in the OP coming straight from the HD2 playerbase and various other sources, these individuals keep ignoring it and dismissing the concerns and grievances of others as well as the problems HD2 community members experience due to Gameguard.
Luckily, anyone can read and judge the information provided in the OP on it's own merit - I encourage everyone to do so and to be smart. Don't fall for the bait posts.
With the above in mind, as a PSA for anyone new to the thread I recommend reading the 2 posts below:
Furthermore, if anyone has relevant Gameguard related issues reports or other info, please send them my way so I can have a look.
I'm getting closer to the completion of the latest updates to the OP. Unfortunately IRL obligations take up most of my time, but I will post them as soon as I completed the formatting.
Stay tuned.
To close my post, I will quote community member RrynarthRrad who in his post perfectly described the situation at hand:
Hey everyone,
Supreme Major Chief Anti-Misinformation Officer here.
It has been explained to you how public discussion forums work countless times now. If you don't want people to actually engage in discussion in your thread, then stop posting on a public forum.
Creating a different thread to reply to posts made in this thread is honestly one of the most ridiculous suggestions I've ever seen.
Please stop embarrassing yourself by repeatedly suggesting it.
You keep using the word "coordination" like you're trying to imply that there is some secret shadowy conspiracy being organised to attack you.
This has also been explained to you countless times
Steam notifies people when a new post is made. So it is entirely normal for anyone that is subscribed to the thread to come and reply after someone posts.
No coordination, no conspiracy.
And the only disruption attempts occurring here are from you, with these constant off-topic copy\paste "I'm a victim" posts that you throw out whenever anybody tries to actually have a constructive discussion in here.
No it isn't.
You refuse to engage because every time you do, you get immediately proven wrong, embarrassed, and then you lose your temper and get yourself banned.
Your evidence is circumstantial at best.
And we haven't ignored it, we have tried on numerous occasions to discuss these issues with you and to explain why there are more likely causes than gameguard, but every time you just dismiss and disrupt with this type of copy\paste spam.
The numbers do speak for themselves.
Millions of players running HD2 without any issues
Vs
A couple hundred that experience issues that can easily be explained by known hardware or game bugs, that are then coopted by a handful of people to further their witch hunt.
You've been saying this for over 9 months now.
There haven't been any new "issues" added since April.
Which is weird because you keep claiming that gameguard is constantly causing issues for thousands of players, but yet there is zero evidence of that.
Not in this thread, not in this subforum, not in the main forum or the support forum.
You can keep trying to use this as some kind of justification for making wild claims with zero evidence, but anybody with common sense can see right through it.
Every post you make is full of unproven statements that you present as 100% fact. And when presenting something as fact on a public forum, yes, you do in fact have an obligation to provide supporting evidence to allow others to verify that fact.
The fact that you not only can't provide any of this evidence, but actively fight against it being needed in the first place just makes it clear that you expect people to just believe everything you say at face value and never question anything.
There's a word for people like that.
I played the game last night and for the past week with zero issues, now tonight I cant even start the game.
- I didn't update or install anything new.
- I deleted the GameGuard folder, uninstalled it using the "tools" along with reinstalling it.
- I have tried verifying files through steam.
- I have tried changing router stuff and turning off/on.
- I have checked firewall/WindowsDefender settings and nothing is being blocked
- I have whitelisted Gameguard for Windows Defender
- I have tried running as Admin.
- I have tried restarting my PC
- I even tried looking to run compatibility settings which there isn't any as I am on Win11
- I have closed all programs, with only steam or Helldivers 2 to run.
- When it gives me an error it loads up GG's website error code stuff but the website connection times out so yay..
- Tried going to Arrowhead's zendesk 'whatsit' and there is zero helpful info there
NOTHING WORKS, So now I wait and try again some other day
My NAT is not set to strict and I do not use a VPN. The directions you posted are what I tried to follow, even the Hosts file lead to a dead end as theres nothing in it related to GG or helldivers 2. Proxy has not changed to affect it and my router firewall hasnt changed anythin which would affect it either.. So I am at a loss
Sad to see that you are experiencing these issues. There are many like you in the community experiencing similar problems where Gameguard is throwing errors and preventing people from enjoying the game.
Regardless, thank you for this report, I will add it to the next round of updates of the OP.
So far these are the Gameguard error codes people have been reporting and I documented in the OP:
Error Codes: -1/14/107/110/111/113/114/115/116/117/120/124/153/170/180/255/340/350/360/361/380/430/1000/1002/1013/1014/1015/1050/1275/3005 or Fatal Error:
As you can see there are a bunch of them. And this is only one category of issues that Gameguard causes for the playerbase...
We can only hope that Arrowhead will finally listen and we will see positive change with regards to the AC solution as soon as possible this year.
Fingers crossed.
EDIT:
Since the usuals appeared right after this post of mine and continue with their embarassingly transparent distruption attempts, I will clarify further.
As anyone can see above, user Zaku-x109DP already performed extensive troubleshooting to try to play the game they paid for but still can't play because Gameguard throws errors.
This is in line with the same Gameguard Errors reported by HD2 players, which prevent them from playing. Gameguard is also know to have the ability to cause connection issues for players. Not to mention the fact when active, Gameguard has the ability to actively obscure it's own footprint so it's harder to trace.
Occam's razor clearly points to Gameguard, considering what the user Zaku-x109DP provided in his report.
Yet, some individuals appear as per usual and cut out the majority of the posts of both user Zaku-x109DP as well as mine, to try to declare that it's not Gameguard's fault. Furthermore, anyone can also see that as part of this facade yet again baseless accusations were thrown at me to try to paint me in a bad light.
This is nothing new, unfortunately - It is part of a coordinated effort against my thread going on for a year now (and in some cases even longer).
Luckily, anyone can read the OP for themselves and see how many different types of Gameguard related issues HD2 players keep reporting.
Nobody has to take my word for it - The OP contains a mountain of Gameguard related issue reports and evidence coming straight from HD2 community members as well as various other sources.
For the above reasons I encourage everyone reading to be smart and avoid engaging with bait posts. For further information, I recommend reading the posts below:
Thanks for jumping in and trying to help troubleshoot here, King.
It's great to say the community helping each other rather than just using other people's problems as a platform for their own narcissism.
This is the important part.
On game launch, the GameGuard client tries to connect to its server to check if it's up-to-date. If that check fails, the game will close.
Now there's a bunch of possible reasons why suddenly your computer would no longer be able to connect to the GameGuard servers. You already ruled out a few of those by restarting both your PC and your router.
So the two most likely root causes are these:
And here's how you can verify/check for these issues. I'll list them in the order of how I'd personally approach this:
Apart from that, there's other things that can be tested, but I suggest you create a separate thread for that and I'm more than happy to walk you through all of that.
Also, KingOfFriedChicken mentioned VPN. However, in your case it might actually be the other way round: using a VPN might solve your connection issue, assuming it really is your ISP that is causing them in the first place.
You type in a URL in your browser's address field. You make a typo. Your browser returns error code 404.
Is your browser to blame?
No.
You are attempting to install a new program on your computer. The installation aborts with an error. Something about insufficient space on the destination drive.
Is the installation routine to blame?
No.
You launch Helldivers 2. GameGuard shows error 340. Your cat threw a tantrum 10 seconds ago. You check again and notice she ripped the power connector out of your internet modem.
Is GameGuard to blame?
No.
Zaku's case above is completely up in the air. And in fact we have strong indications that there is some sort of connection issue going on, as I laid out in detail in my previous post.
But once again you are, in broad daylight, blaming GameGuard right out of the gate thanks to your inability to comprehend even the most basic technical concepts.
At least you make it very easy for everyone to see that you are constantly adding issues to your thread that are not even remotely confirmed to be caused by GameGuard.
Two weeks? Geez, time passes quick. Is this the last week?
My NAT is not set to strict and I do not use a VPN or DPI. The directions on the website which pops up from GG/Arrowhead are what I tried to follow, even the Hosts file lead to a dead end as theres nothing in it related to GG or helldivers 2. Proxy has not changed to affect it and my router firewall hasnt changed anything which would affect it either.. So I am at a loss
I spent a good ~3 hours last night trying to get it to work. I did all of the above of what I mentioned. To also add to what I had tried below as well:
- I also went and opened up my Malwarebytes free 'trial' AV and tried adding an "allow list" folder. Even though I do not run or have it running in the background, ZERO effect.
- I also manually changed my DNS to something like the 8.8.8.8 google etc as before it was automatically chosen for me according to my wifi, ZERO effect.
- I went to check the "oneocsp.microsoft.com" website on my browser, before the wifi snafu mentioned below, it was saying there was an error connecting to it. Today, when I am able to use wifi and open HD2, it is just a white empty page which some people have said the white page is showing that it is connecting properly (?).
- I went on to the official discord for HD2 in the #Troubleshooting channel. There I said I tried all my above and already went through the steps of doing the 'Hosts' file, whitelisting etc.
- They said to use the "Hellbomb.Script" program to see what was causing issues. I used it and was giving the two errors, one of which one of the users said wasnt an issue (single-channel memory).
Testing OCSP connection to oneocsp.microsoft.com...
WARNING: Ping to [ip here] failed with status: TimedOut
OCSP Connection [FAIL]
Do you have a Pi-Hole or other DNS-blocking security software? Please whitelist oneocsp.microsoft.com
- My PC clock and time are all correct
- I tried whitelisting the "oneocsp.microsoft.com" through 'asusrouter.com > firewall' which only went on to ♥♥♥♥ up my whole internet setup here at home so I undid it.
- I went to TrendMicro, which 'powers' my ASUS wifi "AiProtection" to see if they incorrectly flagged the URL as dangerous, it was not.
- After the snafu of messing up my home wifi, I gave up and went to bed.
- Some of the things they mentioned over on the HD2 #troubleshooting discord channel was:
~ The OCSP error is breaking the game connectivity though. Need to figure out what is breaking HTTPS
~ Windows Security does not decrypt HTTPS. Have you checked Malware Bytes, specifically SSL scanning I think
~ Well, then you can try just restarting the PC and networking equipment. OCSP is a Microsoft URL (i.e. has nothing to do with HD2 servers) and is working fine. So something is blocking the traffic (or breaking HTTPS).
My guess is Asus AiProtection is decrypting HTTPS and is showing as a Man-in-the-Middle (MiTM) attack to the OS. I am guessing this because any "AiProtection" is mostly useless since almost all web traffic is now encrypted... unless it decrypts that traffic... so... I'm guessing it decrypts it (and breaks OCSP in the process)
~ Memory channel msg can be ignored assuming you have a laptop or you have 2 sticks of RAM in slots 2 & 4 from left to right
The OCSP error is breaking the game connectivity though. Need to figure out what is breaking HTTPS
~ OCSP not working breaks everything. You either have anti-virus that is decrypting HTTPS traffic (like Avast Web Shield for example troubleshooting) or you have ad blockers that are blocking the URL like the script says.
I guess it's also possible your clock is wrong. Make sure that's set correctly (sync the time to a time server)
None of these things mention in the HD2 troubleshooting discord, the 'Hellbomb.Script', reddit posts, GG/Arrowhead FAQ etc fixed my issue. Only when I woke up and tried again around 2pm EST did the HD2 game launch normally and I tried again with success to launch the game again around 5pm EST. So I currently have no clue what it could be unless it is specifically on GG and/or Arrowheads side.
I will add more to THIS post if I forgot something
Glad to hear it's working now, fingers crossed it remains that way for you.
