Tier 3 materials "book".

So, bought the game just now. Explored, Traded some, made a couple of millions, built "drones" to get resources as some recommended - and tonight i went for a vacation closer to the galaxy center - in spite of warnings (wasn't that bad, was able to outrun some boss that wanted 4 mil from me).

On my way towards the center i passed by an resource station and popped in and saw that they were selling Titanium and some Naonite, not just Iron. Also saw that a "skillbook" or whatever was for sale. For that i had to come up with 69k Naonite. Find, i bought 69k, but couldn't buy the book, says that "you need 69k Naonite" to buy it.

So, what do i do? Do i have to mine it myself or something for it to register that i have it? Because that would kind of suck and i don't want to divert my mining armada of a whooping 5 ships.

The station sells refined naonite, but the building knowledge has to be bought with unrefined ore. This is most easily obtained by mining it from asteroids, yes.

However you can get the building knowledge other ways. I believe smuggler outposts sell it for cash instead of materials, or you can defeat all the pirates in a dead space sector and there's a high chance one of them will drop it.

It says you need "naonite ore", in your cargo hold. There are other ways, and the game tries to tell you about them through the adventurer's mails, missions, and the encyclopedia.

as others have said. use unrefined ore ( -R mining lasers), or clear a pirate sector... the final pirate or the last wave will drop it and last find a smugglers hideout and buy it for cash.

Just to let you know that the options are expanded, if you're on good terms with a faction (requiring reputation), you can buy the skill books from Shipyards as well for 750K (Tier 3), and 1.5 Mil (Tier 4).

This is THE fastest, but also THE most expensive option, but suits me best since i don't want to died of old age IRL by mining.

No, buying it from a smuggler's market is the fastest and most expensive option.

No, buying it from a smuggler's market is the fastest and most expensive option.

Couldn't find a smuggler in the area(s). Shipyards are plentiful. Got 2 books in 5 minutes after learning about it.
