Maximum processing power for this craft reached
Is there a way to increase it with this new update, or are we hard locked on ship size now with this new update?

assuming there is a way around, cause would be pretty stupid to limit ship size in a single player mode.

This is after having already maxed level processing power, and its not letting me add more blocks to increase processing power, implying there's a hard lock on the size you can build ships now, which i would hope I'm missing something here and that's not the case.

should of mentioned processing power as 15, pretty sure we are ship size locked now, which really sucks, hope a mod comes out to fix this, that was a poor design choice.

It's linked to material knowledge. The higher tier material you know how to build with, the bigger a ship you can make.

I agree it's a bit lame. You can unlink those things in freeplay mode, apparently.

If you are playing the new progression, you have to learn about the next building material tier to unlock more processing capability. This can be done by either beating the tier boss, clearing out a tough pirate sector (both of these may drop the information as an item you can use), or get money/rank with a faction and buy it from them.

If you don't want this sort of progression, you may be better playing classic mode - on that everything is unlocked from the start as it used to be.

Gotcha, do you know if the final upgrade gives unlimited build size? Thanks.

There's an equippable equipment module (like the scanners/turret control sytstems/etc) that allow you limitless ship size after reaching 15 slots. They Require 15 slots to activate though, unless it changes since the beta version i played, so it's not really any use before then.

It will not.
My super-capital ship designs (Anything above about 300million volume it seems) get shrunk down and ruined. This is a server-setting and can be found alongside the block stacking option in server.ini here: (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/302072522386440193/870632666448408576/unknown.png)
Block stacking option is highlighted in blue, the ship size function is 5 below listed as "UnlimitedShipSize", set to "True" and it'll work fine.

So setting UnlimitedShipSize to true on my server, only results in it defaulting back to false when I start the server.

Do I need to switch the server type to classic also? If this is the case, how would I do this, as Scenario only lists creative and normal.

Under the same heading as unlimitedshipsize, set the Scenario=3
That will change the game to freeplay, which imho is the best scenario of the lot as it allows the most freedom with these types of editing under server.ini

Thank you!

You can buy ships from the shipyard that have processing power above your currently unlocked level as well, and can use all the sockets. You just will not be able to add to that ship at all until you unlock to its level.

given how sub-optimal the shipyard does things... >.>
Thats almost always a hard pass. Thanks for the tip tho.

All I wanted tho, was that once Avorion knowledge was unlocked, that size would be unlimited. So this works since everyones at avorion now anyhow.

Oh you're missing out then. Working through shipyard build seeds to find good ones is addictive. It also gives you something else to work for when you find a faction with a build style you like a lot, especially when they start out your enemies and you need to find a way to get on their good side just for access to their cool looking seed database.

too bad I havent seen a single build design I liked from AI factions then...
Other than xsotan, inside the barrier.

Haphazard thrown together trash.

Your standards are too high or you're not looking hard enough. I've spent a good amount of time just going through seeds to find good designs, and I'm pretty amazed that their application of procedural generation creates endless variations but still manages to hold a thematic variation for each faction, which are themselves endless. And not only do you get procedural variation through the seeds themselves, but each of the 4 ship types can also vary a decent amount depending on your scaling and volume sliders.

I'd almost argue a game like this needs a tool like that. If you're not super creative or artistic, you could spend many hours building a single ship on one tier. At the very least you can find shipyard designs that only need minor cosmetic or functional tweaks to get them to your liking. And that saves a lot of time in the design process. For a game where your options are turtle or zerg, its a nice option to have.
