I just started a 8 hour mining mission on single player
Am I stuck waiting for 8 hours until it dumps me tons of materials? I was under the impression it would just tickle my resources but it seems it does not? Maybe I just didn't notice it happening?

You will get loads of resources every 30 minutes until the 8 hours are over.

Assuming you told it to. I believe by default it's set to wait and give a lump sum not over time.

There is a box to check on the right when assigning the mission to send immediate. Recall the ship, check that box on new orders it will trickle in chunks at a time

If you don't tick the box, the captain will send you the resources through the "mail" (Though it's actually in the fleet window, not mail). you'll get a notification of where to look for them. Even if you don't claim them at that time, the time will continue on, and multiple instances of claim will be layered one after the other until you claim them.

I personally like to see what I'm acquiring, so i leave the box unchecked. I claim them manually.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you still collect it manually, the check just gives you the chance for collections. If the check wasn't checked you only get it at the end.

For mining and scrap you get it every 30 or 15 minutes depending on the length of the mission. The checkbox only makes you have to manually receive or automatically receive every delivery interval.

I think only the 30 minute mission duration has 15 minute delivery intervals.

You should be able to see all this info on the mission setup window.

Negative. The resources are sent to you in intervals whether you have the box checked or not. The only real difference is if you recieve them automatically in those intervals, or whether they sit on a "claim" button.

Now it's been a while since i've checked that box, so I couldn't say for sure, but I think even with the box checked, it still sends the notification, and it shows you what each interval has brought, though I think it just automatically deposits your rewards without you needing to press the claim button at that time.

You're wrong.

All immediate does is send it to you without having to click on it in the Player->Fleet display.

It doesn't change the interval at which those are sent, just whether you have to confirm them before they're added to your total.

--------

NB: if you have them as immediate it's very easy to miss that they got sent to you, but you still get them.

NBNB: if you don't have them as immediate they're not stored on the ship - so they're not 'lost' if the ship gets destroyed and you haven't claimed them yet.
