In my understanding it increses the overall HP of the blocks within it's range.

Then you should be good to go!

I think it divides damage to single block between all blocks affected by it.

Integrity fields multiply the block hp of all that it encompasses by 10x. Please note that this does not increase your global hp. Your ship will still be destroyed when sustaining the same amount of damage, regardless of integrity fields or not. This means it is possible for smaller ships with integrity fields to be destroyed before even a single block has been knocked off. Careful of collision, as this means that your wings, nose, or pinky finger could allow more damage to be taken than your entire ship. Sometimes it's best not to use integrity fields.

the thing i'm still wondering though is how well do they stack, if you have a block in range of two integrity fields is it 20x?

Also wonder if the bigger integrity field are the better than mutiple ones ?

They don't stack. Integrity fields just have a coverage range based on how much volume/length the integrity is. Multiple integrity fields are only useful to cover ranges across larger ships.

Oh man.

I rather have small integrity on all of the ship lol.

not much of a surprise in that case then, i did assume larger unbroken ones would have better coverage.
