Rush to the core or take it slow?
Just wonder as I just got this game if it's better to go slow, gets lots of iron and then titanium and generally take your time versus rushing to the Naonite and skipping the lesser tiers. I mean, as long as you travel by way of friendly territory it's not hard to reach. Also the pirates and bandits in those farther in sectors drop better loot and you don't even have to fight them you can just wait for the local defenders to take them out then scoop up the drops.

Depends. On multiplayer servers like mine that involves clan wars, you have to rush. And the difficulty is set to insane mode, so you have to work with your clan in order to secure a sector and establish your own base so you can spawn there. In single player, going at your own pace is preffered since you dont have any other competition.

On your first playthrough I would take it slow. If you are on multiplayer, you have the luxury of buying stuff you need from players. Solo, you need to get the artifacts alone.

Well; first, nevah evah evah evah get lots of iron.... you never get iron.. at the least you bline for titanium and neonite for shields.

It all comes down to gameplay longevity, really. If you're playing on a multiplayer server like Prophet, there might be a prolonged point to endgame gameplay, but aside from that specific scenario, you will reach a point where there's simply not much for you to do. All the enemies become nothing more than salvage food (that are not threatening to you by the slightest, even on insane difficulty), and all challenges objectives will have lost their purpose as you'll have done them. The only thing at that point to do is to build pretty ships.

If you want longevity in gameplay, take a slow, but certainly don't start with iron... Start with titanium at the very least.

While people are saying to NOT mine Iron, you will need to mine SOME iron. Each ship you build, has to start with a core block, that costs 500 iron to begin with. After that you can change its type ect (use transformation) to get the iron back, but not always (or you forget). While the goal of this game is to get to the core and kill the main boss, building a large fleet of ships is a lot of fun too. Just remember to get captains for your other ships (always a good idea to buy them whenever you find them, since they are somewhat hard to find).

Titanium can be mined easily with your pod, I mean Drone, but it might take some jumps (or gates if you were lucky to have your starter zone have them) to move a little closer to the core to start finding titanium a little easier.

At the start, Titanium should be the core of your ship, with any Nanite you find being put into shield and power generators.

Get Titanium (or nanite if lucky) guns/salvagers, remember, the material type a gun is made of means it has to be placed on that type of block, or better (aka a Nanite Gun cannot be placed on a Titanium block, it must be Nanite or better). You can place guns on shield/power gens (I think the only block you cannot put things on is the thruster block).

OKAY SO..I know there's several quests where you obtain powerful items needed to win the game. I'm still clueless on how you actually obtain these quests even after consulting the wiki and watching YT vids about it.
