Team Fortress 2

New sapper idea the hacker
Well really it is simple a sapper that hacks buildings and turns them against their team the downsides are that the time it takes to hack the sentry is the same amount of time it takes to normally destroy a sentry.

Pardon, what's the downside?
Yeah because Engineer being vulnerable by his own sentry isn't enough

The downside is that the time it takes for the sentry to switch sides is the same as the time it would take a normal sapper to destroy it.

How is that a downside if it's identical to normal sapper behavior?

Also, this is a very OP sapper idea. Just think of the damage a turned level 3 sentry could do... with next to no effort on the spy's part to pull it off.

Where exactly is the downside in that?
A team-switched Sentry >>> a destroyed Sentry, and if both can be done within the same time what reason is there to use the regular Sapper?

Technically, it's not a downside that'd be written on the weapon's stats, but if the sapper was destroyed, the hack wouldn't work and nothing would happen, whereas with the sapper there'd be damage done that the engie would have to repair.

Well, that's what I'm assuming he means anyway. Not taking any sides here, just interpreting OP so don't shout at me about it.

It would be really useful on Dispensers and the affect on Teleporters would be to switch the Entrance and Exit (reverses the flow).
When hacked, sentry turns into a mini sentry.

A Level 3 sentry attacking it's team would be too overpowered. I say it goes down to either Level 1 or 2, to make it a bit more fair.

This could work too.

I play as engie quite often and this idea makes me shudder. I already have to make sure I'm not standing in front of the sentry if it starts firing at approaching enemies and I'm not sure if I'd like to have to worry about having it turned against me and my teammates.
It would be more acceptable if Sentries would have to revert to either mini-sentries or 1st level sentries.
Obviously OP, I can't imagine any downside that would balance this (besides making the sentry do a HELL OF LESS DAMAGE, but even then there would be no point to using it).
Whatta bout the Wrangeler?
That idea might be good if it required another engineer to work with the Spy to hack.
But to tell you the truth, I do believe that the Red Tape Recorder is a hacking device.
Yeah the Red Tape Recorder is but one version of hacking device. There should be other types with different affects.
