How are you supposed to beat Dark Anima

Even with 3 people with max Accuracy, ~100 luck, and casting Luck and Aim at the beginning of the battle, I still only hit her about 1/2 the time. At 10M HP, that's 101 hits at 99,999 damage.

Even with all three people with auto haste and using quick hit, I get maybe 10 total moves between her turns, which means about 5 hits, at which poiint I get really lucky and she uses Pain, or she uses Mega Graviton and I lose instantly. And even assuming I get really lucky and she doesn't use Mega Graviton, I still need to swap out an Aeon to take the Oblivion hit, and I run out of Aeons long before I can get 101 hits in.

So do I literally have no other choice but to farm another 200 dark matter to put Ribbon on my equipment, or is there something obvious I'm missing here?

For hitting her, you have too little Luck, and entirely too much Accuracy. Anima has 1 Evasion, so even something like 10 or 20 Accuracy is excessive, she is dodging purely through Luck, which can only be countered by Luck. So to hit Anima consistently, you need more Luck. You can start by converting those Accuracy nodes into Luck nodes :P

Mega Graviton deals 7/16ths Max HP, along with the ailments Sleep, Silence, Darkness, Slow, and Doom. Stuff like this is the reason any Armor meant for fighting the Dark Aeons has Ribbon attached.

I suppose grinding for luck and fortune spheres is marginally less annoying than grinding for dark matter. . .

You want your characters to have 230 luck, 0 accuracy (YES, ZERO), and 60 evasion. That adds up to 54 +4 luck spheres and 14 +4 evasions (although, you can use less than +4 so long as you are not trying for perfect stats with HP limit break). Either way there isn't that much luck on the sphere grid and grinding Greater Sphere is tedious (max your magic resist if you have not).

grinding fortune spehres and luck spheroids is a huge pain in the butt you should probably max out the def stats first then slowly go for luck im at 200 luck right now with maxed def stats and about 22k hp and i still get owned by anima you also need the right equipment for her i recommend :

-Auto Haste
-Auto Protes/Auto Pheonix
-HP-expander
-Ribbon or stone defense item

at least 20k+ hp and use the double hp item for 1 fight

Zanmato, or grind more spheres/equipement to follow what previous comments said since you'll need it either way to defeat Penance (unless, again, Zanmato but what's the point)

Farm +4 to X stat spheres, supress all not +4 slots and up all to 255 except evasion and accuracy.
Next; celestial weapons for wakka, tidus and yuna.
With that go to dark yojimbo and farm Ribbon + Vit expansion armors. Put them autohaste and something more (protect, +40% vit...).
At start, cast all the white magic u need (autolaza!).
Just care with anima overdrive, summon eons to evade it.
When u dont have, just autolaza.
Easy, but u need time.

There's always the money grubbing samurai aeon as an option ;)

But if you're exterminating the dark aeons for the purpose of fighting Penance, then you're going to need to customize items with auto-life and various other weird tactics that have no purpose in the rest of the game.

I already have armor for everyone with auto phoenix, haste, etc. and all 255 stats except luck. It's apparently just the luck stat that needs to be reworked.

Just use a hyper mighty guard mix with rikku to cast auto life on the entire party in one turn.

The easiest mix for it is probably; light curtain + Gambler's spirit or door to tomorrow. If all else fails, customize the armor with auto-med.

I have terrible stats, but can nearly beat him by spamming Hyper Mighty G + Attack Reels with Auto-Pheonix, Auto-Haste, Stoneproof and Sleepproof
