Can you change the Controller Mapping
Can you change the mapping of the Controller? I played with X/A = Confirm and Circle/B for over 20 years. Can you switch those 2? I didnt find any options for that

Press Esc. There's a second menu.

Actually, what is "correct" depends on what version of the original game you had ;) Because the US version had a different button configuration from the japanese and international versions.

More often than not, neither is correct. It'll display the X button and want you to press the Circle button because it doesn't know how properly map the PlayStation symbols to generic DirectInput controllers. I just got through fixing that problem in v 0.3.0 of my mod. A tool to make writing the INI file easier will be publlshed eventually.

Which version is the original?

The game's from Japan, so the original is the japanese version. Dunno which default config they used though, I had the International version, living in EU here :P

When reassigning keys, one does not reassign actual keybinds, that is what game does automatically, on my Loigitech B is somehow where X is, and A is where O is. To think that a multi million $ company can not make a simple key assigning on any of their ports, which is literally 100$ job for one developer is really shameful. No Final Fantasy port has even a decent keybind or joypad support. PCSX2 emulator from people that invested nothing and are not professionals will let you get any controller to play with. Shame, Square Enix.

originally remotes just had directional select start b a. a was select just by virtue of being the first button and b was back and remotes just kept this layout for input even if the buttons themselves changed. sega was the only one who really switched it up at all

The PAL version is not the same as the "international" version (which was only released in japan).

Depends which game you're talking about - FFX International was released globally, but FFX-2 International & Last Mission was indeed only available in Japan.

Kinda - the PAL-version is a slight variation of international, but not he same (biggest difference being the home-glitch getting fixed.... kinda sad as that was really a nice thing.
