Can't find salvage frigate modules
I did 2 quests in a pirate system: I got 2 modules. Since then I can;t find any quests that give these modules as a reward.
I did the derelict freighter run 4 or 5 times: I got 0 salvage modules. Even if I opened everything.
I bought a lot of emergency maps for crashed freighters but they only drop cargo bullheads.
So i have 3 modules and can't seem to find any more. Don;t know what to do... How can I upgrade my freighter this way?! Where can I find more?

I indulge in piracy in Pirate systems, that being the most reliable for me. Fly past the ship and the scanners will tell you what's in each cargo pod. Needs reasonable shields, reasonable weapons but if necessary you can run for the station.

I am looking at cargo pods for days and days. I haven't saw any one yet that said "salvage frigate modules" or similar. Do I start shooting at all the pods? At all the freighters? Does it give it at random or do I have to search for a pod that has the name 'salvage modules" or somethin'?

you have to look at them... a lot... if they don't say they contain what you are looking for, keep looking... freighter (frigate?) salvage modules are much rarer these days... previously it was too easy to build your freighter up so HG made the modules more rare...

They're notoriously hard to find, though sometimes RNG is kind to you and you strike lucky. You're doing the right things - crashed freighters and derelict freighters are the best places to find them (I got three from a crash site yesterday. I nearly fainted!) and like pwalt says, pirate fleets are good too and you don't lose any reputation for raiding their freighters like you would in a normal system.

So, keep trying and sooner or later your luck has to change and you'll start finding them. Well, hopefully anyway...

i got a few from space station missions(each time i reach a new system i scan the available mission rewards just in case), others from fregates expeditions, some other from derelict freighters, there is a chance for a fregates modules for each box inside the derelict freighters, also seen as a rewards for nexus missions inisde the anomaly.

I wouldn't invest too much time/effort into this right now. The next update will likely do something to make it easier to get them. It is very likely that HG are aware of the fact that they made it a little too difficult to find these modules now. In fact, it may have been entirely intentional.

Seeing as how the very last expedition we just had (both the newest one and the 'Redux') was also all about freighters themselves and unlocking a lot of the content without needing the modules, all of the expedition's rewards would not have been quite as meaningful if they were 'easy' to get. But... now that the expeditions are over the next step is obviously to allow everyone else to unlock those same rewards once again, with enough time/effort. So the obvious thing would be that the next update would do something to give us more ways to get the modules again.

Furthermore I think this mostly follows along with what HG has done with updates & their links to expeditions in the past, as well.

I would add what others said: screw up freighters in pirate systems. For some reason I don't have a tag on the cargo pods at all (showing what's in them), so I shoot them and try my luck. I did have luck finding some modules this way.

Also a good option are derelict freighters. Their crates can also contain some of them.

Found them at crashed freighters on the switch. Usually one at each sometimes more multi-tool expansions as well.
I receive the majority of salvage frigate modules (SFM) by running frigate fleet missions. When I run the frigate missions, I usually run all five per day. These return an average at least one SFM per day, sometimes two. When I do that every day for one week, I seem to average around 10 SFMs. When I follow that pattern for a month, I seem to average around 40 SFMs. If I run derelict freighter missions and go after all the crates that might contain them, I pickup a few more. The key is patience and persistence.

1 = travel from system to system and see their missions in space stations
2 = run emergency charts, they will lead you sometimes to crashed freighter, that some of the boxes will give you 1.
3 = while doing other space station missions maybe you see a crashed freighter on your way, dont hesitate to grab its boxes.
i manage to have 70 before i get my s class freighter, all those in 400h, i get my s freighter way later.

Also check Nexus Missions,

Thank you all. So it's not only me. It's hard. You have to do everything (freighter missions included) to get your hands on these. Well it's grinding I suppose.

Also check Nexus Missions,

I got one maybe 4-5 per day doing nexus missions. They pop up there quite a bit.

I got tons of them from piracy. If there are at least few freighters in the system - good chance to get at least 1 module per raid. I especially like to raid fleet with capital freighters. First you save them and get your reward, then you raid them. If you are lucky, you can get 3-5 modules per raid.

And I destroy only freighter's cargo pods. If you dont care about reputation, you can destroy all other ships as well and get much more.

Thank you. I found a star system that gives 2 salvage modules every derilict freighter run. The idea is: if a system won't give any then just jump and find one that does, and then do the same run over and over again.
