How to kick randoms from session
Have had 2 trolls refuse to leave my friend's session and I cannot get a concrete answer on how to boot such players. They just sit in their ships and refuse to go.

Been a really long time since I've felt the need to do something like that, but I seem to recall it was simple.

Open options->Network settings and it shows you the people in your party along the right hand side. I seem to recall an option to kick being among the options if you select one of the names.

That's only for in party from what she tells me we want them out of the session

That's out of your control. You don't own the universe and don't have the right to kick other people out of a system just because you're there. Your rights stop where their rights begin. You can kick them out of your party, not out of the game.

It's an easy solution for a person playing alone (disable multiplayer) but if you two are playing together, not much you can do about it other than go somewhere else for a while. They'll get bored and leave.

Did you kick me? I tend to be one of those randos that joins peoples game in the nexus. Recently though, it seems like everytime i try to join someone's party for a nexus mission, it kicks me. I would never sit in my ship unless i was redecorating it.

Ive had people come in, but they leave because I do my own thing, yeah like I'm going to hop in to a Nexus mission with you when you can CLEARLY see i'm offloading salvage tech modules at the construction terminal...

you (anyone) have the option to leave the group. It is in your settings menu.
but you cannot boot them from the group.

you can also set your network settings to not allow others to join. Or Invite-only, or Friends only.

suggest you study the options in the menu more.

You can prevent players from following you "home" by using the network tool. Once they have found where you are, you are out of luck. Your best bet then is the network tool feature that hides your location from anyone except friends. Just set it and boost off in a different direction and they can't follow.

If they found your friend's base, you are kind of screwed. They can set up shop next door if they want. Your best option then is to use the network settings wisely and build a new home base somewhere else.

My rights stop where their rights begin...what? It's a game, harassment is harassment and in any other setting said people get kicked. This is like saying I should just leave my door open to anyone who comes down the street because they might want to look around my apartment.

That's terrible game design no offense, it invites trolls to ruin sessions because there's no real punishment. If this is an infinite spawning game then there should be no issue locking systems to friends only. I never thought I'd come across worse game dev logic than Yoshi P's explanation of why removal of friends isn't both ways cause it might 'make the other person feel bad' And I love the man.

Not sure how someone 'sitting in their ship' is harrassment?

You draw the comparison of leaving your door open, but as I said, it's not YOUR system, not YOUR planet.

They came to planet ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about why we picked said planet/solar system then refused to leave when we asked after rudely naming planets. And yes it is my friend's system she discovered it and should be allowed to limit who she likes to be there. Judging by how offended you are by the very notion people like their privacy I get the feeling your the kind of player that forces into other's sessions and can't fathom why they might want you there.

Lol...i'm thinking you don't understand the structure/nature of the game....the NMS universe is the same for everyone, so it is possible to be in the same system/planet at the same time.

you don't have rights to kick players out of systems...just like others can't do that to you, and there is no 'unwritten' rule that says 'i'm here first, others must go away if i say so', Lol i'd hate to see how that kinda game would evolve.

as for the naming...why is it 'rude' to name discoveries?
if you were there first and naming was important to you why didn't you do that first?
(EDIT; name and UPLOAD them)

you assume that other players are trolls...maybe they feel that you're the 'bad' neighbour type

the kind of game control you seem to want would be biased in your favour to the detriment of other players...so not gonna happen...my tuppence worth...chill out and try not to be so possessive about things (as far as NMS goes anyways)

This is what you need to focus on. this is not allowed and you can report them for it.
If theres anything else like that, include it in the report.

No, its more like saying that you can't decide who gets to live in the next door apartments and other buildings on the street. You don't get to do that or decide that. You have to do what Mr. Bufferlow mentions and (to continue the metaphor) "lock your apartment door"

you can't always know the intention of what others do where multi-player is concerned...
