or similar (the exact location of your Steam may vary).
You can even copy the SteamVR directory to another machine and run SteamVR there without the need to install Steam at all. It's a pain that it is so difficult to get OpenVR without a Steam install.

old thread, but some may find this useful: when I start vrmonitor.exe (search in steamapps/SteamVR) then it will start my Valve Index without starting Steam. It also does not ask me to login to Steam.
I can then run non-Steam VR apps.
