But .ogg does work. so you can convert your music to .ogg and listen to it.
@shayne.dewildt You have to own the game. It is no free Beta!
It's not as good as when the game does it for you (like it does in Windows), but you can play your MP3 or Radios yourself, outside of the game.
If you hit Shift+Tab you get access to the Steam features when in the game. From there you can Alt+Tab and access your desktop.
Use Totem/Banshee or your favorite player to play your songs.
Use radiotray to play your favorite radio streams from the systray.
Use your favorite PulseAudio mixer to set the audio volume of the radio/songs vs the game.
If you're using Cinnamon, have a look at this applet: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/150. It allows you to set the sound level for each application independently, straight from your sound applet.
I really miss that feature in the game.. one of my favorite things was listening to the radio while driving. It's definitely a bit more tedious than if things work the way they should... but with radiotray and pulse I get what matters most.
Its not really satisfactory playing music with another tool ...
Ignoring significant bugs like this when moving out of beta doesn't really give them any bonus points in my book.
