[Linux] Radio & Music not working
In the Linux beta, when I try to play a radio station, nothing happens.
I also tried to put MP3 music in ~/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/music but it doesn't show up in the game.

It didn't work also in Windows version in Wine. And it is still beta. Wait, maybe they will fix it before release.

MP3 playback doenst work because of missing mp3 support. scs have no license for the mp3 codec. On windows ets2 uses directshow. On Linux the way is not so simple.
But .ogg does work. so you can convert your music to .ogg and listen to it.

Yes but is the radio supported in the Linux version?

Is there a trick to install the linux beta? When I right click on the game in my library and click on properties, I don't see a beta tab. Am I doing something wrong?

@shayne.dewildt You have to own the game. It is no free Beta!

I know ogg files work right now, but ogg radio streams currently do not. Really bug discussions should be discuessed on the SCS forums.

Hey guys, do you found a solution how to play radio streams?

When they have no license for mp3 they should simply link to some open source mp3 library... But it seems they want to develop everything in house (I can't understand why they don't use SDL, for example. They would gain good alt+tab support as well as Wayland and Mir support in the future).

Hi everyone,

It's not as good as when the game does it for you (like it does in Windows), but you can play your MP3 or Radios yourself, outside of the game.

If you hit Shift+Tab you get access to the Steam features when in the game. From there you can Alt+Tab and access your desktop.

Use Totem/Banshee or your favorite player to play your songs.

Use radiotray to play your favorite radio streams from the systray.

Use your favorite PulseAudio mixer to set the audio volume of the radio/songs vs the game.

If you're using Cinnamon, have a look at this applet: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/150. It allows you to set the sound level for each application independently, straight from your sound applet.

I really miss that feature in the game.. one of my favorite things was listening to the radio while driving. It's definitely a bit more tedious than if things work the way they should... but with radiotray and pulse I get what matters most.

Is there any official forum? There is only this "inofficial" Linux support for almost a half year. No real steam+linux release. No changes at all... do they care? :'(

Its not really satisfactory playing music with another tool ...

Wow. I really didn't find this myself. Thank you!

The game has official Linux support now, and still no fix.
Ignoring significant bugs like this when moving out of beta doesn't really give them any bonus points in my book.

I wish me a fix for streaming music too!
