Is it worth using a trailer? (level 50+)
So as i said in previous posts, i'm back in this game after years.
thanks to all that helped me to understand some basic concepts i maybe have forgot
(like the automatic transmission in trucks...never known about that)
now, i unlocked all the abilities of course and i'm on level 50 and more...i don't use drivers because i already can make a ton of money with long travels, ecc.
so it's just for curiosity
i have a dozen of trailers in various garage i bought in the first stages of the game
is it worth using one of them? usually i go with the empty truck and take the trailer from the company, but since i make a lot of money, in the end i wouldn't need that, generally i tried to get rid of money...like i buy some paint job for the truck to simulate taxes, rent...i don't know
for how i see it having a trailer always with me it's kinda cumbersome, expecially in cities.
some thoughts?
thanks

Whether it is worth owning a trailer depends on what you want to use it for.

In order to earn more money, it might pay off in the long run to use your own trailer, depending on what type of trailer it is, as you get up to 11% bonus payment for using your own trailer...
But remember, it is only when the trailer's purchase price plus maintenance is earned in the bonus supplement itself that the trailer starts to make a profit.

For certain achievements it can be an advantage to use your own trailer.

Own trailer can act as a filter when searching for a job.

If you would like a truck and trailer to fit together in a paint job, it is necessary to use your own trailer:

weighing all the pros and cons I'd say it isn't, imho the most important con is that with an owned trailer you can only haul stuff specific for that trailer, and since you're on lvl 50 money shouldn't matter anymore :-)

At the point you're at the only reason to use trailers is if you're achievement hunting. Certain achievements require specific cargo, start points or destinations. Having access to the cargo market helps here as it will give more job options.
Other than that if you're not bothered about the extra money or having a custom painted trailer for deliveries then there's not much reason to use them.

maybe you refer to nuclear stuff, or airport terminal...oh okay get it.
always better than minimaxer lol
now i must finish that in-exclave achievement...i use quickjobs but it's not easy find jobs for russian cities, maybe because there aren't many of them

A trailer can be fun. I bought a lowloader and am now getting far more choice in the jobs market for the sort of things I like to deliver. I also have the DLC with the helicopter and diggers etc. for which a lowloader is necessary. Also I get to do the parking at both ends of the journey, which I enjoy. I drive everywhere (no quick travel) which put me off getting a trailer but I'm really glad I did. If you do not like it, you can just get rid of it. I have over €60 000 000 so I'm not too worried about money!

no but it's not a yes/no question...if i have always under 100k it's just because i don't know where to spend all that money. i have like two of three of those.
i have the game in italian, but i understand which is the lowloader
i want to carry something heavy, but i don't remember if i should do the special cargo transport (dlc) or the dlc you're talking about (could you tell me which is that i bought a lot of expansions for this game but years ago, i don't remember what i have right now)
helicopter sure i've seen it, so i must have this dlc

Lowbed and low loader loads require at least one of these dlcs.
https://store.steampowered.com/dlc/227300/Euro_Truck_Simulator_2/list/43331
But be aware that for special transport, you cannot use your own trailer, and that special transport is only available in the regular freight market and in quick jobs, and that you cannot drive special transport in convoy.

Owning your own trailer can make it possible to paint up tractor and trailer in the same livery. And this makes the happy centers of my brain light up. No other consideration is of importance... :PhogsHappy:

2-3 years ago I tested all the then special transport routes, and for that purpose I made this check list to keep track of which ones I had tried and which ones I was missing:

Berlin -> Szcecin
Bratislava -> Graz
Bremen -> Travemünde
Brest -> Rennes
Bruxelles -> Amsterdam
Cagliari -> Sassari
Cardiff -> Birmingham
Daugavpils -> Rezekne
Dijon -> Geneve
Dortmund -> Hannover
Dresden -> Wroclaw
Galati -> Lasi
Glassgow -> Aberdeen
Göteborg -> Helsinborg
Huelva -> Seville
Istanbull -> Edirne
Kosice -> Budapest
Krakow -> B.Bystrica
Køln -> Amsterdam
Linköping -> Kalmar
Linz -> Brno
London -> Felixstove
Luxembourg -> Liege
München -> Innsbruck
Nantes -> Civaux
Napoli -> Terni
Nice -> Nice
Odense -> Hirsthals
Olsztyn -> Bialystok
Palermo -> Catania
Pleven -> Sofia
Plymouth -> Dover
Pori -> Helsingfors
Prag -> Nürnberg
Reims -> Strassbourg
Resita -> Targo mures
Sheffield -> Birmingham
Soria -> Ponte de Sor
St. Petersborg -> St. Petersborg
Stavanger -> Oslo
Szeged -> Debrecen
Toulouse -> Montpellier
Trelleborg -> Esbjerg
Verona -> Parma
Warszawa -> Katowice

I think a few extra routes have been added since then.

I like using my own trailer, as I can make it pink to match my trucks, can be a pain at times to find cargo though, whether or not you use one is all personal preference.

You will have to stow it for any event they run though, which is annoying, lol.

If you're on the hunt for profit, definitely buy a refrigerated trailer. You'll see that if you go to the cargo market and sort by price per distance, the best paying jobs of them all are medical vaccines. Plus they are very light (5 tons) so you don't need a 750hp truck to haul them around.

You can kind of see it when taking quick jobs too. Not only do they pay well, but more often than not you find yourself driving waayy overpowered trucks for this type of load. The medical industry makes a s*load of money :p

True.
But: It is far from all cities that offer medicine transport, so if you only want to drive medicine, you will have to drive long trips with an empty trailer to the next place where there is a medicine cargo to drive, which costs both fuel and wear on both truck and trailer.
- I know that quick travel costs money, but I don't know if it is only for fuel, or if this cost also covers wear and tear?
Alternatively, you can of course use teleportation from the dev console, which is free.

Medicines are typically found at airports.

thanks for the list, i don't know if there's an achievement for completing all special transports. i just did one in denmark, with the 8x4.
i just wonder why they didn't consider the locomotive and other massive things as "special transports"
maybe the size? Or the DLC was published later?
it's strange to train a locomotive for half europe...the size can be ok, but the weight is massive...on long distances the risk is very high without a 8x4.
and still...
same thing for the transformer and the road maintenance machinery (i don't know the name in english, it's something for the pavement...)
https://www.wirtgen-group.com/it-si/prodotti/wirtgen/tecnologie/frese-a-freddo/ it's the picture in the page
maybe you know better than me what's its use
thanks again.
EDIT: unrelated question but it's not worth open a new topic.
is buying a truck online and directly at the truck dealer different? In terms of price i mean.

Welcome, and indeed there is an award for carrying out all special transports on current maps.

Heavy cargo pack (with, among other things, locomotive and asphalt machine) only came when this was released on May 12, 2017.
Later, Special Transport was published as it was

No, in terms of price, it makes no difference whether you buy directly from a dealer or online.
