You can do quick jobs which allow you to drive random trucks - It's a way of previewing the vehicles in the game and finding out which one you like best.

The Renault interiors are my favourite. The Premium has a decent small footprint and really good mirrors. The Magnum has pretty good visability.
I personally would never drive a renault, i think they are crappy, Iveco is slightly better but i dont like it either, also there aer little to no mods for them.
Majestic (mercedes) and MAN are good trucks but i dont really like their appearance.
Daf is a cool truck, i specially like the triple wipers on the windshield, and has suficient power for any cargo ingame. (if you play realstically not if you like racedriving at 150 km/h :P)
I've been driving a MAN TGX for a while now and really like it, drove an FH before that, and might get a Scania next. Variety is the spice of life and all that :P
