nope there is no way to turn it off. You can increase the traffic with mod's. but there is no way to turn it off.

I don't have tested it (nor will i) but in theory one could put the numbers for the car/trucktraffic to 0....but i have no idea if then really no ai traffic roams the streets or not.

Yes you can, you need to have console activated. You can activate in the config.cfg, find uset g_console "0" put "1" and uset g_developer "0" put "1" again. go in game push ` and write uset g_traffic 0, you need to use this command whenever you start the savegame .

PS: Lone Wolf, if you don`t know, don`t say anything. Thank you.

you dont need console option you can shut it off by going in to your documents folder then the this game folder in there then open whit wordpad config.cfg
and then search for G_Traffic and then change the numbers behind it safe and start the game
@Lone Wolf yes you can turn it off even whitout mods
put the number that is 1.0 to a 0,0 is compleetly turn off traffic AI
but iff you still want some traffic you can make it 0.1 though the reason i dont like the AI traffic is they just drive in to you or sorta races whit the other lane so you can never pass them

The older the game gets, the deeper necro. :-)

I don't know back then in 2014 but nowadays there certainly exist mods for "no traffic". I think they basically set the g_traffic parameter to 0.0.

Indeed, here is one example that I for one use:

Searching the "Workshop"-section with words
"no traffic"
gives few other options also.

Why would you need a mod for something that can easily be done with the config file???

In the config.cfg file, I changed the figure to ".05". That way I own the roads, and can do some driving when I'm feeling weary in real life. But at the same time I'll see an occasional car or truck so I don't feel like I'm the last human on earth. Most players seem to want more traffic, which is perfectly fine for them. To each their own. But for me personally, I played with full traffic for years and enjoyed it. Now I love the freedom of being able to sit back, relax, and cruise at high speeds down mostly empty roads.

You aware there a traffic option right in the game... The mod is useless, and back in 2014 as stated and well by Loco we could easily disable it through the options file, no command prompt needed, no mods, no nonsense...

You all over-complicating a simple matter.

If you want to always have the same traffic level, the easiest and most reliable way is to rewrite 'uset g_traffic "x.x"'(x.x=0.0-10.0) in config.cfg.
If you want to change the traffic level according to your mood, it is convenient to enable the console and enter the command 'g_traffic x.x' to change it instantly without restarting the game.

My (not-so-serious) theory is that "Real gamers use mods. Mods are cool. In-game options are not, not even configuration text files or a command console."

I am not a "real gamer". I prefer the in-game possibilities, both simple options and maybe more advanced configuration.

This reminds me of a conversation on a gaming forum

Discussion: a mod feature in certain game

op: is there any way I can have this on PS5?

replies: wait, you invested $400 on that crap?

It's simply the convenience of having an "on/off"-switch:
Like E.G. sure, I could always just unscrew the light-bulb, detach the wire, or something else to "cut" the power. But a simple wall-mount or other switch makes the while thing much more convenient (and safer).

Or I could always "jump" a motherboard without power / "PWR_SW"-button by using a screwdriver. But a separate button still is a bit more convenient.

You would like to post a screenshot;
I have re-checked the option-section and I for one certainly ain't (still) not finding an option-toggle for the AI/CPU/NPC-car-traffic
( unless of course the "mod" also hide the toggle from the option-menu ).

The setting of the traffic can be either done via the console in the game (so you can change the traffic on the fly which you can not do with mods) or via the config file in the ETS2 folder in your documents (which you can edit by simply opening it with Notepad) and searching for g_traffic there.
