Will there be Ireland and Northern Ireland added to ETS2 if the UK was to get rework?
Only England, Scotland and Wales are the regions of the UK but if the UK map is to get revisited with a new look then it should add Ireland and Northern Ireland?

That's what we the community is hoping will happen. As for now, we don't know if a UK rework on the table. SCS have not confirmed to be working on it or have it in the pipeline yet. I'm sure it'll come, eventually.

Eire is not part of the UK Promods gives you a comprehensive UK map. I recommend it. If you are using 1.44 you will have to wait for the Promods gang upgrade. If you can't wait, revert to 1.43. Good luck.

I thought it was confirmed England was getting remade? Guess it was just rumors. I really hope it does as it stands out as being the most off-putting area in the game. It looks 10 years behind everything else (because it is) so I hope they do a good job remaking it like they did with Austria.

If you haven't heard it announced on the official SCS blog yet, then it means it's still somewhere along the devs' to-do list.

While I think the UK sector is still serviceable in 2022, I do agree that it deserves a remake more than Austria. The devs probably picked Austria first due to the smaller scale, as the larger portion of the ETS2 team should've begun work on the teased Balkans pack DLC.

This needs to be done big time. Great Britain is still untouched basically release. Look at France, Italy etc all getting retouches or DLCs. Its about time they went back and made GB into the UK and also added Eire.

True but at least it means that driving around the UK is more pleasant with fewer slow-downs in fps.

The entire base map is getting reworked to bring it up to the same quality of the DLC maps.

i would image that Ireland and Northern Ireland will be added as a DLC expansion and not added as part of the GB rework. This would make it logical for the rework of GB to be left until they start working on the Ireland DLC so that the reworked GB is released just prior to the Ireland Map expansion (the reworked GB map could have all the required ferry ports between GB and Ireland in place ready to go but without the ferry "activators" in place).

If they rework the GB portion of the map as it is now, before they work on and release an Ireland map expansion (there is no way Ireland is getting added for free), it means that they will have to go back and rework parts of GB AGAIN for the addition of Ireland (i.e. putting the ferry ports in). it is more efficient and logical to work the addition of Ireland into the plans for the GB rework (i.e. timing the GB rework so that it is released 1 or 2 updates prior to the release of Ireland DLC).

Except an Ireland DLC will be years away literally even if it's green light by management and the resources and manpower being appointed to the project will be far greater. Adding a port or two would be the least of anyone's worries at that point.

Really? So how come Promods have a very comprehensive map of Eire and Northern Ireland? It can't cost that much or use huge resources if Promods can do it for free.

Promods put together mostly existing elements in a way it looks like Ireland. That's what all map mods do. I remember time when Cologne Cathedral was placed all over France on any mod map because it was the only Gothic cathedral available in ETS2 assets. SCS then built the correct one for any city. And the same for Ireland or any DLC. They build it from scratch instead of just putting existing but plainly incorrect elements together in a way that looks right on first glimpse but reveals it false nature on second.

And considering the size of Ireland I expect it to come free of charge - or in the shape of the first DLC below 10 Euro standard price.

I don't much mind the cost. Would love to see the UK fleshed out and brought into the game!

North side of Scotland, please. Those will be some narrow and thrilling roads at times!

Agreed, Central Scotland too, would love to see the Granada roundabout and services in Stirling added as its a popular rest spot for trucks there is also a weight station for trucks on the other side of Stirling before the junction to the M9 heading North/South too.

Plus if you haven't seen an articulated lorry driving up the A85 at Glenogle its crazy.
