Illegal trailer fine in Austria

I recently had a quick job from Salzburg-Steinbruch quarry (the one in the mountains) to Klagenfurt, and instead of sticking to the regular route proposed by the route advisor I took an arbitrary scenic route via the Wörthersee viewpoint (you know, this lengthy and extremely curved minor road west of Klagenfurt, that eventually connects to A2 highway and also features a viewpoint & a photo trophy). Upon approaching the toll gate at the scenic road's entrance, I got a message on my Route Advisor which read something along the lines of "commercial trucking in this area is prohibited" and "unless you have a business here, turn back immediately". After I passed the toll gate, I received a 1,500 euro fine for "illegal trailer" (kinda understandable, considering the warning), which, as far as I know, is possible to receive only in Romania and Türkiye. Has anyone encountered the same situation? It's my first time seeing something like this

i still think it is stupid you get a fine for the trailer, while the warning is about 'commercial trucking'. i wanted to drive that road too, but i could not find cargo in the market at that time so i just went in empty, and i still got a fine. i was not commercial trucking at that time, i was just driving around showing my empty trailer the scenery. sidenote: they need to add that restaurant at the middle as a cargo destination, so you can go there for business:D, similar to how in ATS they have delivery spots at road maintenance areas.

You don't get a fine there when you aren't on a contract. You only have to pay a toll fee.

im pretty sure i got a fine for "illegal truck combination" , for hauling a trailer, but i have to recheck the road. rechecked and you get a 1500 fine if you haul a trailer, doesnt matter if you have a contract or not

I can't speak for this place specifically as I haven't been there yet, but I know that in ATS when I was driving empty but with my own personal trailer and I tried to pass through Yosemite National Park, I got fined even with no load. So there's precedent for a fine even when not on a contract.

I have never experienced this situation, but I have read that there are places like this in Europe.

i dont really mind the fine, i drive there anyway, its just that you get a message that it is illegal to do commercial trucking, but you get a fine for using a trailer, not for any commercial business, the warning is wrong

You can get a "commercial trucking" fine for passing through restricted areas even with an empty trailer. You can't haul a trailer, full or empty, through such areas.

Just travelling via the same route in Austria, Snowstorm, with the scenic route southeast of Innschbruck towards west northwestern Klagenfurt to N. Macedonia, that you had aforementioned. I saw and read the message but decided to risk the 1,500 GBP fine... worth the trophies!
