Never gonna happen. The Devs use their own game engine

Ah, the weekly game engine rant. Nearly missed it.

Just because SCS doesn't give us the version number of the Prism3D engine that they made exclusively for this game and are constantly updating and upgrading over the years, does not mean the engine is old. ;)

They're in the process of updating the engine as we speak...

Yes and I'm worried about how that is going to affect the game. Currently with the way it is now I can run pretty much at 4K 60FPS with everything on High or Ultra. I'm very concerned when they upgrade that my PC might not be able to handle it and I'll have to reduce a lot or also might get a lot of chugging. Not everyone has the newest PC with best graphics cards etc. I really enjoy the fact of how it is now and I can play very nicely.

I don't know why if they were going to do such a drastic change to the engine and make it look much newer why they can't just Make it Euro Truck Simulator 3 and let everyone carry over their DLC.

Just very concerned... I don't like knowing the game as I know it and enjoy it right now can be taken away from me and I wont even be able to play it...

@Falcon - first world problem indeed : D You can wait 15 years more before even to start to mind "should I worry?" >: )

H. Falcon. The updates are more likely to make it run better than worse.

My machine is 8 years old now, so I'm mildly concerned about such things as well (hoping to upgrade at some point but we'll see). However having seen how SCS treats their fanbase and their general development skill, I'm reasonably confident that I will still be able to play the game. There's another title I like to play which is also getting an engine update soon, but that one I'm much more concerned about as the devs have made a number of mistakes and poor decisions in the past, but with ETS and ATS I'm happy to wait and see.

You do realise that you have just signed up for a complete remake to be released as a full price new game without any existing licensed content.

Are you aware that the game engine has changed many times since the game was released just over ten years ago. Further major updates are coming and have been getting worked on for a number of years.

Unreal game engine has its roots back in the 1990's with the game Unreal:

Yes run better on more powerful PC's. If they do a lot of changes to the graphics etc it might start being an issue for those of us that don't own a 3080+ Graphics cards etc.

What I'm worried about is it will be upgraded out of the range of PC's it works for now.

Here is hoping. Cause if they upgrade it to anything like Unreal 4/5 I don't know how well it will run on our older PC's.

I just really enjoy their games and want to keep being able to play them without having to buy a whole new PC or Graphics card...

These kind of upgrades can break the game. You can go and read Witcher 3 discussions and see how happy people are about upgrades. https://steamcommunity.com/app/292030/discussions/
