If it's AI traffic that have crashed and stopped moving, saving the game then reloading will make them vanish so you can continue.
If the accident has barriers up and emergency services blocking the road, it could be a detour. These are random events which can happen from time to time, and force you to pick another route to your destination. They usually happen at an intersection, so take a look at the map and plot another route to follow from where you are.
If the accident is with your own truck and you have overturned or are so damaged you cannot move, you will have to call for a recovery to the nearest garage. Once there you will be able to repair. However this will cost time, money, and if you are on an external contract that will be cancelled.
A detour won't be removed by reloading the save nor waiting. They exist for the duration of your contract.
If you have broken your truck, as above. Call tow truck.
If you have had enough of the detours disable random events in menu. With map as it is, could take you many miles to make detour. Not sure if loading an older autosave will make event vanish as I have never tried it.
If you have the slider set more to the right, you can have more than one detour. ;)
And to clarify, the detours are not part of the AI traffic, so neither sleeping nor re-loading will clear them; they are set when you accept the contract.
Also, Detours should not be confused with Roadside Events. There are different sliders for each. REs are part of the AI traffic, however, the REs will never block the road like a Detour. The most will happen is having to be diverted to single-lane driving around/through them.
I truly appreciate the responses and your time.
